Spun bad on dragway, need helpnhooking up
So I drag raced my 2011 BMW 335D MSport stage 2.8, Launched in 2nd gear and still spun over halfway down the track. I am wondering if I could get by cheap with just a set of wheels and tires I could put on to hook up or if I need to add new rear adjustible suspension and smaller brakes in the rear to accommodate different wheels and slicks. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I have not researched this form at all so I apologize if this is a common question

What tires do you have now? It's all about the tires.

Those are pretty good tires if they are in good shape.

265/30/19 will have short contact patch which isn't the best for traction. Smaller diameter tire with same width will do better. Same with the PSI as you can't run 265/30/19 low on air to achieve larger contact patch. Plenty on 17" rims will fit over the rear brakes on 335d.

Thank you and more ??
Can you recommend a wheel that is 17" X 9" wide and that is also not super expensive? I am also going to add a differential brace and bushings, LSD, new coil overs and control arms. Can you recommend coil overs and/or know of any way to raise the rear end to allow a taller tire under the fender. Thanks again.

Get a set of these:
http://www.mandhtires.com/M-H-Drag-T...H-Drag-Radials My CTS-V would cut 1.5X 60 foots with the 275/50/17. Not saying your BMW will do it, but at least the tire won't be the limitation. and I would look at the Apex wheels in 17" size. |

Need to get rid of the 19's and get on a wheel and tire combo with some flex in the tire.
19's are like rubber bands, no flex, very stiff. They are good for an Auto X or maybe even road course but not the strip. Best thing to do is just pick up a pair of 17's and throw on some DOT drag radials. Then you'll be cutting 1.7's all day conservatively. |

335d has a LOT of torque... can you turn down the boost in 2nd gear maybe ?? that will help you get off the line better without spending any money ...

Kosei K5r 17 x 9.5 with M&H Racemaster 275/50/17
Suspension is D2 Drag coilovers with the rear raised to accommodate the taller tire. No rolling of fenders required.
