Same thing just happened to me. I posted in the maintenance forum.

But I bricked mine with a jump start I believe. Definitely looking to get hands on with and DIY. Just wish I knew such a finicky component could cause so much hell in this car.

Just a heads up to people. If your budget can't quite stretch to a Schumacher 70a there are plenty of Battery Support Units out there which will do the job.

Check out the CTEK MXS 25 or the Draper IBC26S

Both are rated at 25a and have dedicated supply modes for diagnostics / programming.

I have yet to see my e90 pull more than 20a when flashing with winkfp. I'm not saying it won't ever, but I think these will do fine for our cars.

Do you guys think I can get away with coding the FRM without connecting a power supply? Just keep the car running?

I can't drop $400 on that Schumacher yet. I should probably wait though.

Not sure if already posted, but the FRM3 bricking issue in relation to coding is caused due to a lowlevel bug causing the brick.
