Easiest way is to just change the units through the Idrive menu or BC menu. You can add $548 to the VO and default code the KOMBI if you want to do it that way.

Hey guys. I've bought an high series kombi with miles and 8k rpm. Changed the LEDs to white, LCD to white (not blue!) as well and used R270 to put the KMs back to 0 before using NCS Expert to code my VIN.
Everything went ok, except that my needles don't move when I start the car.
I'm sure they're good because they move with perfekt toolbox.
My car is a 20D from 03/2005. Can someone help me, please?

Does kombi keep the service timers or are those pulled from other modules and just displayed by kombi?
Pondering if I need to restore the timers.

Getting the needles off is what I'm stuck at. Tried to pull and lever with considerable force. Those needles are really tightly stuck there right or did they CA these in? Did you have special tools for this? Did you sacriface the gauge face decals in the process? Those are pretty tough plastic, but I think my levering will scuff the surface finish or leave detents.

I saw a picture of test points in the thread but I wasn't that lucky. My PCB layout doesn't have the testpoints so needles off is the only way. By quick look I'm not soldering anything into that MCU.

I see cruise wheel keeps hunting quite a long time if I displace it and power up the kombi. It assumes one position and is not quite satisfied and then assumes another position and halts. This is normal?

EDIT:
- The trick is to turn the needles against bottom of movement range servo hard stop to break the friction while prying with a lever tool.
- Cruise wheel cannot be installed in wrong position as it calibrates itself against hard stop of the wheel every time power is applied. Servo motor doesn't have hardstop for cruise wheel apparently.
- Needles might require multiple attempts to get positioned. Once again hardstops of the servos are useful as needles can be adjusted downwards against servo hardstop before pressing all the way back down. If you think you are done offset all needles and apply power to gauge cluster using 12VDC wall adapter or lab supply to see which position needles actually assume. Note that all but fuel gauge should assume zero position but fuel gauge usually go sligtly under zero by width of needle tip.
