My uTorrent got hosed yesterday and would only download at 1.6kB/s until I rebooted the system.
Then I got it back up but I am sadly only slightly higher than before. This morning is looked like only 80% was available again. If I can get to 100%, I'll seed for at least a week since I've got a bit of bandwidth to spare. |

I mounted the VM (i.e. the .vmdk file) using Winmount but cannot find the directory Sensible specified for adding datens for other models:
apps/BMW/services/ecudata/[your model number] What am I missing? Thanks DP |

Also, when you mount vmdk with winmount there are 3 partitions. OS partition is selected automatically. Change this to the last one! It's is where ISTA-P is stored.

Thank you Sensible! I've successfully downloaded and unpacked the following:
ISID_31_E89_ISTA-P-D.vmdk (77.67GB) ISID_31_E89_ISTA-P-D.vmx (3KB) *Note: These files are currently on an external drive. I’d appreciate some advice on how and in what order to install the VM and other necessary ‘elements’ considering I have the following: 1. VMWare Workstation version 9.0.2 (not yet installed) 2. ICOM Emulator 3.0.3 (1.07GB): Provided by ‘Gini’ / without a USB Dongle (Supposedly there is a method of using the ‘Snap Shot’ feature in VMWare to eliminate(?) the need for a security dongle) Has anyone tried this? 3. D-CAN Cable from One Stop Electronics 4. MacBook Air running Windows 7 with SSD(106GB currently free) and 4GB RAM. Thanks! Last edited by tinkerman; 07-02-2013 at 01:32 PM.. |

First, much thanks again to Sensible for sharing the ‘E89 only ISID’ VM.
After much trial and error with the ICOM Emulator (‘Snap Shot’ w/ no security dongle, shared by Gini) network settings, I’ve finally succeeded in getting the ICOM to show in the ISID’s ‘Connection manager’! The network settings in the installation guide(‘BMW ISID and ISSS for ICOM Emulator with K+D-CAN USB cable configuration manual.pdf’) provided by Gini actually did not work in my case, probably because we are using ISID VMs with different network settings, and therefore, require different ICOM network settings. Thank you ‘YouTube dude’ (that dude with the amusing/monotonous voice that always begins with, “~ Good Morning YouTubers~…”), that I thought to be Hong Kong-Chinese, but turns out to be Jamaican?! I guess not all Jamaicans sound like ‘dub musicians’! His ICOM settings as shown in his ‘tutorial’ was my ‘inspiration’. No need to watch the long video, for I've attached the essential network settings images below. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD6PFozuoqM) Attached are the ‘Virtual Network Editor’ settings in image form from my ICOM Emu ‘Snap Shot’ setup, and a screen shot of ISTA-D in action. Cheers. I'm currently aware of at least 2 postings:
< Bimmerforums > http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...-install/page6 *post #134 (Gini) Hi all, I share Icom Emulator 3.0.3 for free so, this is the link xxxxs://mega.co.nz/#!Q5Zn1RJQ!CbatSyuo6EppMYKFjSeFgFa_1d5KQQ7cbIHgFdS orLw replace the xxxxs:// by https:// or file link xxxxs://mega.co.nz/#!Q5Zn1RJQ and key CbatSyuo6EppMYKFjSeFgFa_1d5KQQ7cbIHgFdSorLw Instructions xxxxs://mega.co.nz/#!1gpESKpR and key KXHTRBJ4IJWQ2RXqv-e_XnpvrplA6yA_2a--dus05To replace the xxxxs:// by https:// Last edited by Gini; 06-16-2013 at 04:30 AM. < BMWCoders > http://bmwcoders.com/forum/bmw-isis-...61/index9.html post #90 (Gini) *content same as above. ---------------------------------------- Again, in my(tinkerman) case, Gini's 'Instructions' did not produce connection between the ISID VM and the ICOM Emu VM. Also, it is instructions for an ICOM Emu, not the 'snap shot' provided by Gini. With the 'snap shot' I realized that I did not have to install the FTDI chip(K+D CAN cable) drivers for the ICOM VM automatically installed them or they were already installed in the snap shot. I just had to manually activate or 'connect' the K+D CAN cable to the ICOM VM(by right clicking on the USB connector icon on the lower right corner of the ICOM VM window). Also, I noticed that the ICOM icon and the ifhsrv32(interface handler) icon do not need to be / should not be executed because they are already running in the snap shot, and actually the ICOM icon when executed just triggers a pop-up mentioning that the security dongle is missing. I did execute the icon for 'K+D CAN Configuration' since I am connecting a K+D CAN cable. Since you are likely going to be using the ISID shared by Sensible, try the settings I've posted above first. Be patient and recheck details. Good luck. Last edited by tinkerman; 07-09-2013 at 05:31 AM.. |

First, what series (E??, F??) of car will you be connecting to? This info determines which type of cable and snap shot to use, as well as the instructions file you'll need.
