It definitely is a PITA the first time. Afterwards it gets a lot easier. You can swap fronts in a few hours the second time around.

This was my third set of shocks I replaced on a car. I just take forever doing any car work.

Honestly, I think it also depends on where the car is from. If in the Midwest, can take longer because of soaking with PB Blaster or hitting with torch, etc.

Did you rent the subframe tool from Harold at HP?

Swapped out the disa valves, one of which was flopping around there and with 151,000 just did both. Wow what a difference in idol, acceleration as I have no more skipping and I bet my gas mileage will be better.

I think you might have found a difference if there wasn't already a reinforcement bar connected to the firewall

Replaced brake pads on all for corners with all new BOSCH pads. Replacement job wasn't that bad but dirty as hell. Fronts still had plenty of pad left. Rears were getting close to being gone.

you're telling me you can get a car on jacks, remove shock, compress spring, add new shock and spring, and reinstall one side in an hr? it takes me a good 30 mins to break down and build the strut/spring assembly itself. then

probably another hour to reinstall to the car. I have to remove the brakes and loosen the control arms though, so that might play a role.

Went catless on my e93 335i convertible. Also vinyl wrapped the interior trims in white and splattered it with paint (there's a before after picture) and changed the body style of the 335i into an M3/M4 style why? Because of the accident that was involved in!!

Well, great work I guess??? I like the splatter paint interior trim but that front bumper is just hideous... but to each their own, as long as you like it I guess.

I've been thinking about doing this sometime soon. How much did the parts cost you? Install time?

They're expensive for the pair, around 800 unless you do non BMW valves. Probably between 4-6 hours of labor. I like to take my time, take pictures and study things so I never have a where does this go or how does that work moment.

I picked up a Carly unit and messed with the lights and locking and stuff. Pretty cool little thing.
