Yes. Here is the shop in Santa Monica that did the work www.aegerman.com - 310.828-8700. This car is like new. It is easy to make comments, anyone can do that. Call the shop and report back here and that would garner a bit of respect.

It is highly unusual to replace a timing chain on an N52 never mind at 111k miles. I’m sure the work was done correctly; it raises questions that’s all. Those of us running the same engine can’t help but be curious.

A few mechanics said, since you are doing the VANOS, might as well do the timing chain. We used VANOS from Amazon but it was still throwing codes. After the parts were replaced with genuine BMW parts, the codes were resolved. There was a noticeable amount of power gained from "working" VANOS. I felt the difference in acceleration and the top end. This is a really fun car to drive. I watched several videos before replacement and the chain stretches by just a tad. Considering we're talking about thousands of revolutions per minute, the closer to perfect, the better the computer can accurately maximize the power band. I would say, replacing the VANOS and timing chain go hand-in-hand.

Thanks for the info…..something to think about. I realize I might have sounded snarky and apologize, just genuinely curious.
