Valve cover question

I just had the valve cover replaced on my 07 335i. FYI for comparison purposes, my indy charged me $1400 (parts, labour, shop supplies and tax). The cover itself was over $600. I know the PCV system is integrated into the cover but is the PCV valve itself included with the new cover or would I need to purchase one separately? Online images show that it might be included. Not sure.

I believe its included. For reference, the PCV valve was included in the valve cover for my 335D. If you want to be 100% certain, why not check with your indy? They should be able to answer that question without any issues.

Thank you apexit4.

PCV comes installed in the new cover. That seems like a very high price, especially for an indy.

I get that indies are entitled to a reasonable markup for parts, but the LIST cost for an OEM valve cover is $526 and you can easily find them for well under $400. Your indy's markup is insane if they charged you over $600. I'd find a new shop.

Valve cover is a reasonable DIY. I’d just save the money.

PCV is built into the new cover. I agree $1,400 is high but that's what my indy quoted me too. It's not that bad of a job if you haven't done it yet. Less frustrating than the OFHG was for me.

The price is in Canadian dollars. BavAuto in Portsmouth NH quotes $509 USD for a genuine BMW cover. The USD/CAD exchange rate puts the unit at $626 CAD. That leaves $673 labour and shop supplies. Then add on our 15% provincial sales tax.

Any comments from the Great White North?

Edit: I also want to add that I had the car in a few days before to get the problem diagnosed. I would expect to compensate the garage for that.

Bolts in 335 cover are steel and not aluminum so you would mess up the threat before snapping the bolt.
