2008 128i Eccentric Shaft Sensor Issues
Hello everyone.
Recently, my '08 128i threw code P1017, for a faulty eccentric shaft sensor. So, that needs to be replaced. However, recently, the SES light turned off for a brief moment (15 min maybe) and the re-illuminated. I went home to check the codes to see if anything had changed, and I was met with disappointment. Now, not only do I still have P1017, but i now have P2096, for post-cat fuel trim being too low. I JUST replaced my valve cover gasket maybe 6 months ago in order to fix that exact same code. Could the two codes be related, or do I need to resolve another issue (again). Thanks. |

Should have done the eccentric shaft sensor with the cover although it's understandable you didn't as it's not cheap. I didn't either when replacing my cover either. The fuel trim code could be related to how its running without valvetronic so I wouldn't prioritize that.
