1/2 mile suspension set up

So I will be attacking my first 1/2 mile race in Ocala, FL come January 20th. What should I do with the suspension of the vehicle?

2011 e90 n55 sedan automatic. I am FBO, PS2, FPS2, Helix Overdrive (To be installed in 2 weeks), 100% e85 (in 2 weeks) and MHD tuned by Ken.

Any advice would be helpful.

Out & back on a drag strip. The finish can be a bit hairy.

Hey winjury I see two replies here, and here is another one.

If you want to set up your suspension for racing, check out the suspension subforum, and maybe do some research. Just asking "what should I do" isn't going to get you very far.

If you want someone else to just tell you what to install, call a racing shop and they will be happy to sell you a bunch of stuff.

A 1/2 mile course? About the only thing you can do is floor it because you're finished in a heartbeat.

Do you even turn in a half mile race?
What would the point be in building the suspension at all?

Most people (including me) have no idea what the hell a 1/2 mile race is. Is it all straight line where you just need to be concerned about the launch?

Is there hard braking involved (run out 1/4 mile...stop..turn around...run back 1/4 mile)??

Is there turning involved?

More info is needed in order to give you some suspension advice.

You're full E85 on injectors? Never heard of that, you need port injection to do that or you're going to run into some issues to say the least. You should check with the F30 forum because they have way more N55s over there.

Familiarize yourself with the Helix HPFP overdrive unit.

It's not going to matter so don't worry about it. I've done quite a few of these events, several in Ocala. The runway is dirty, there's no "track" prep, and traction off the line will suck. Dont even think about a hard launch. Get into 3rd gear as fast as possible so you can go WOT. I'll be there Sunday.

1/2 mile race. total track is 1.1 miles. You can do a roll race or launch, up to each racer.

No turns, straight line down an airstrip.

Roll cage, fire suit, fire extinguisher, helmet.

Coilovers, 38psi in tires, tires rated for 186mph plus unless you can go faster

Full maintenance of engine, a CEL in a dragrace is the N54's achilles heel

thanks for your input! ya i am also getting a Hans neck restraint system.
One question though- 38psi in tires seems high. Is this what everyone recommends?
