Does anyone know if it will require massive cutting, like the BT?

I would assume that VRSF is trying to do a simple upgrade like 90% of the FMIC kits -- 5" core, inlet & outlet piping, no/minimum cutting.

Price is probably going to be the most attractive element of the kit.

I spoke to Tiago last night and i think it's definitely worth the wait. The price is pretty much going to beat any other intercooler out there

We're definitely not doing a BT/CX racing style intercooler. I considered one of those initially since we have access to the same cores but after personally installing one of these, I felt that it required way too much trimming and with our new design we can We're using a 7" core and we're currently working on a 5" variant which will not require trimming. The 7" core will hit our door in about 5-6 weeks and the 5" cores are still in development (end tanks). The sets we have arriving will replace the restrictive stock connectors but we will also be offering an option to use the stock connectors for the guys who don't want to deal with removing the factory hose clamps.

Price is expected to be low to mid 4's depending on final cost

Same type of core we use on our Evo 8 & 9 & DSM FMIC's. We've sold hundreds of DSM FMIC kits with the same fin set and have dozens of cars in the 700+ whp range with our internal/external fin set configuration. The core is great quality and proven to perform without heat soak. The 7" core will handle anything you can throw at it that is currently available on the market for the N54.

We are not using a stepped core. We have considered one but we decided against it mainly due to the added pressure loss across a stepped core. Most of us are already pushing these tiny turbos out of their efficiency range so having to further strain them in order to produce the same boost will not only negatively affect performance but it will reduce the lifespan of the turbo.

Over-spinning the turbo to produce the same boost due to pressure loss will only negatively affect performance and reliability of both the turbos & the motor, mainly due to the additional heat cause by pushing the turbos past their efficiency range.

We also decided against it due to fact that a stepped core adds a lot of extra weight to the nose of the car. Normally I'd be ok with disturbing the balance to promote better cooling but I can't justify having to sacrificing pressure loss & inlet temps due to pushing the turbo farther out of it's range.

I didn't get a chance to take the prototype off the car yet but I did get a few pics from our supplier while they were boxing them up

Looking good! Does it include any piping at all or does it re-use all factory connections and piping?

Buy VRSF FMIC + DPs, you get a special VRSF sticker for your window

Serious not, would be nice if VRSF (and all the other manufacturers that offer these products) offered a "Bundle" package that sold all their products at a reduced rate.

Anyone who's purchased our VRSF DP's in the past will receive a discounted combo price

We're going to run an intro group buy as soon as I have a concrete date of arrival.
