It won't affect the premium brands quite as much as they build more of their cars to order, whereas the likes of Toyota etc churn out cars with average spec and colour and then worry about selling them afterwards.

Thorne is the distribution centre for BMW's (sure you knew that). Drove past there last Saturday and I've never seen it so full, cars stock piled basically and a transporter bringing more new BMW's in. Either BMW are very hopeful about selling new cars or they've over produced.

Uncertainty for the workers there perhaps.

When I bought my car 2 years ago, I originally wanted a used one, but ended up spending less and buying new.

Was exactly the same when I bought a car for my wife last year.

I don't think this is anything unusual. Dealers take advantage of their position and manipulate prices for 'nearly new' used cars all the time.
