WWII "Evacuation Day"

My two children took part in a school-wide "Evacuation Day" this week, where they were taken from Taunton to Minehead by steam train as part of an evacuation experience. The whole school inc teachers were dressed in period costume (done by the parents!)

They loved the whole experience.

Look at my two, William was really sweet! Harriet didn't seem to happy, moody female!

Must have been a very good experience for them all and some good 'practical' learning of our history. Assume that stuffed into those tiny suitcases were xbox 360 and nintendo DS!

LOL

Sounds like a worthwhile thing to do - well done to that school (and to the parents for the costumes!!)

We never did things like that when I was in school. We just practiced the "duck and cover" drills; like that was going to do any good when an A-bomb landed outside.
