I was there at Famosa that same day, ran mid 13s@104.14mph in the qtr mile with my bone stock 06 M3 SMG. I was bored waiting between runs at the track. So I did some tests on the street. You can see the 60' time on the 3rd steet run (in green), is right in line with the times on the drag strip surface. In fact it falls right in the middle of the 60" times I got on the track. (2.089-2.114-2.123 secs) No discernable difference on street tires that I noticed that day. And interestingly enough...my 335i without LSD, and with skinnier rear tires 255 vs 275s, achieves as good or lower 60' times as my M3 (335i=2.034-2.045sec.) Now theres some food for thought..........

The Gtech pro gives that much info? Wow, I might have to pick one of those up.

I didn't say that putting DR's on my car would knock .5 seconds off my time.
I said, if I had exhaust, custom tune for that exhaust, 93 Octane, AND DR's I could knock .5 seconds off my time.
Add to that a sea level track and .5 seconds and 3-4 mph would be easy.
The DR's by themself might be worth .1-.2 seconds on the ET

Like you said Charlie, if DR's didn't do anything so many people wouldn't use them.
If I'm not mistaken, you said this was your first RWD car you've ever drag raced. I'm quite experienced in drag racing RWD cars, I got a better time on the street tires than you simply because of that fact. It was my first AUTO car I've drag raced though.

http://www.dragtimes.com/results.php...arch+DragTimes

There is a reason why they put that time at the top of the list.
Rflows times are not offensive to me in the least...as I already said it's a great time. What I don't see is why YOU can't see that I've already said that. Umm, they put it at the top because it has the fastest ET.
But again, when you KNOW about racing you'll know it's the trap speed that measures power and the speed of the car. Shiv's car was on street RFT tires, not sticky wide DR's.
By your logic a 500 hp M5 that spun like crazy on street tires that got a
13.1 @ 113 would be slower than Rflow's car and Rflow's car would have the "best time by a significant margin"

Oh, ok Mr. editor and teacher.
And it was YOU you started the attacks on me, not me to you.
Again, funny coming from the "internet racer" who hasn't raced his 335i or probably any other car for that matter. Why don't you go argue on a thread or topic you actually have experience with?? Just a thought!

Yeah, and more often than not it's the top fuel cars and such.
I wish the tracks would have "street car test and tune" days separate from
the drag cars.
I wish I could of gone one more time even at that crappy Famoso track.
I could of gotten 12.9's @ 108-109 with the 93 Octane after the 13.03 run on 91 octane since my ECU hadn't adjusted yet. But I wasn't going to wait another frickin 3+ hours for the drag cars to go through!!!

For what its worth I had a car once that ran 10.80@127 on ET Streets but only 12.6@120 on street tires (275/40/17s). It was a scary ride on street tires!

Amen! Traction is where its at in the 1/4 if you dont have it you dont have anything. Hell i was at the track last night got some pretty decent MPHs but my 1/4 time was sh*t. I probably lost 2 secounds spinning.
