I've had an Idea!...
After reading the story in the paper today about the crew from the US aircraft carrier that ran a marathon on the deck for the 'Help for Heroes' Charity which they raised £7,000 towards the 20 Million the charity want to raise to build rehablitaion centres in the uk for our injured Military personnel.
so.... I was thinking could we do something as a group 'Uk e9post' i.e driving from Lands End to John O Groats as a big group gumball rally style obviously not racing and driving like complete cocks. We could get the charity involved along with the media i.e the Sun as they seem give alot of coverage for the charity in the paper. We could have stickers made for the cars etc... Obviously we would need quite alot of us to be worth it, we could do it over a weekend later on in the year as i know everyone has got busy schedules. I know it would take alot of planning which i wouldn't mind doing and i know we don't all live in the same place! But i think we could do it and it would be like a big weekend long Uk Meet! Remember this is only and idea and if you think it would be 'crap' or it wouldn't work then please say! i wont be offended it was just an idea! |

i was thinking September time because it would take a massive amount of organising. if we could get enough of us to commit to doing it i was thinking about 50 cars? or even more. We could give money ourselves plus donations from friends/family and work colleagues. Hopefully we could generate some media interest which could help with the donations. Plus we have got some pretty good people on here who could design the graphics etc... it was just a thought...... |

Just playing Devils Advocate here but I can't see the Sun or other people promoting something like this due to all the tree hugging environment types having a moan about all the CO2 and affect on the environment that 50 cars driving up the country would cause.
I'd be up for it though, sounds like a serious good time.

I would be interested in taking part to help my fellow Servicemen and women. Problem for me is that it would be in a Mercedes!

If we got serious decent numbers I could go to the charity and see what they thought. Regarding the cars and co2 issue I say fuck 'em! helping the charity is better than that bollocks! |

Perhaps make the next UK meet into some sort of fund raising drive.
I'm sure the sponsors could donate some items, and many of forum members could give something through their profession....little auction and some money raised. May well be a little easier to co-ordinate than a John-O-Groats to Lands End rally. |

Good idea btw. Years ago one of my biker friends died (wasn't killed on his bike - topped himself!). There were so many bikes en route from his house to the crematorium, we got a police escort. Imagine that as you go through the various counties............be stuck at the NSL though. |

I would be up for it, however I agree about the media coverage... the problem is that we would be put down as a bunch of rich playboys (and girls) in our fancy BMW's.
However I really like the idea, and sod what the bloody tree huggers say!! |

I'd be up for it in the MR2T or in some type of Seven if it would be far enough away (time wise), if you really are interested I can speak to a few people I know who have done Furball 5000, Cannonball and Gumball. I don't doubt for a second that they'd be up for this too.
