Gas door wont close after sub install& car wash

Title sums it up. Before yall tell me to search, i already have. I installed a JL w7 12 about two weeks ago, have it turned down so it just hits those realy low frequencies that the logic 7 cant handle. And about an hour ago i went through a soft touch car wash. I get to work and notice the gas cap is open, i figure the car wash bumped it open so i try to push it shut. Nope, car is unlocked and the locking pin is not blocking anything so i know thats not the problem. The only time it will stay closed is if i hold it shut and lock the doors with the fob. When i unlock the doors, the lid pops right back out. In another post where someone had a similar problem they were told to pull the emergency release a few times to maybe fix it. Tried, no help. Same post, someone asked if he had any subwoofers, he claimed that the trunk vents its pressure through there also.

So my question is, who has had a similar problem and how did they fix it.

Possibly the plunger is bad, Mine went bad although mine would not pop the gas door open.
I purchased a new one at the dealer, about $7.00 and installed myself. Remove the boot off of the existing plunger, insert a small flat screwdriver into the slots at the top and/or bottom of the plunger housing to release the locking tabs and pull the plunger out and simply push the new plunger into place, no need to remove the boot on the new one though.

There are alot of people that install subs that the door latch breaks from the vibration. There is nothing that can be done but to replace it. It will happen again

What they said, if ur under warranty the dealer will replace it but it will brake again.

Gotcha. Im outa warranty so it'l be out of pocket, but if there aren't any downsides to just removing the plunger, i may do that...

The only downside to removing it is that I cant get it open now... I reckon there aint no such thing as a "free" fix.

The answer in almost every case for every part for your car is no.
