Audio Experts Help-Head unit cycles on when playing music from phone.

I initially thought this was just with Pandora but it is doing it will apple music too. Its random. Plays for a few minutes then starts cycling on and off. It does this both when streaming and with the USB plugged in. With Pandora it switches to FM.

Dealer said the software is all up to date. They want to swap in a new head unit. Car is 2011 328i Wagon, non nav. I have HK with combox.

If I try switching a head unit does it have to be from a car with HK or can I use any professional radio? What should I look for if I don't want to have to go through re-programming?

Thanks for any help. This is really messing with my extended jams and bringing me down.....

I thought there was no streaming possible with a Pro Radio for
any E90.
If you where to put a radio in it would need to be programmed for
the sound system(L7 , Hi Fi or stereo ) and the options present in your car.
Such as PDC .

Mine does the same thing. I'll get a few minutes out of using pandora or YouTube through the USB and the headunit will turn off on its own and cycle back on.

Also have a 2011 328i (Nov/2010) HK audio without Nav.

Thanks for this. So it sounds like i can use any professional radio but it would need to be coded or i would have to find one with the exact same options. I do have PCD so good example.

I am able to stream via the tune2air. Vin is WBAUT9C51BA189837 if anyone is interested in looking at my options to determine if they can do the same.

No OEM streaming possible with a combox unless you have idrive.
There a few different models on the pro head unit.
Most of them seem to be in Europe.
The US models seem to all have a Most Bus which is needed
for the TCU MulF or combox .
There are models without the Most Bus .
Additionally there is a one that has USB and Bluetooth built into the radio
and I believe Sirius 2 that does not require a TCU MulF or combox .
There is a Most and no Most Bus version of those.

If you have Logic 7 and depend on the old TCU Mulf or combox you at least
need one with a Most Bus .
As far as I know they are all programmable but may require and Icom
cable to program.
