Personally I actually like the look of the pre-LCI m-tech/sport the best. Yes it's more dated than the LCI, but I think it's more aggressive and more pronounced. It's way more "future classic" than the LCI.

Bah I was thinking the same but couldn't pick a side to swing to because I totally see the "future classic" look of the pre-LCI front end, but the rear.... I just can't accept it, even with a M-Tech bumper, the shape of the inner tails just throws me way off. Im stuck in the middle of deciding whether to finish the LCI on my 06T (had the tail done years ago), or do a clean refresh with a M-Tech, but then it's neither here nor there to me... obviously way cheaper to stick with Pre LCI, but the LCI front end is an old party since I just recently did a LCI on a E90.

I agree. I love the front end more aggressive look of the pre-LCI but totally agree that the rear end does look very dated. I'd love to retrofit the LCI rear but I just can't justify the cost of getting a new tailgate and light assemblies here in Australia. Maybe one day when I run out of other things to do and there's always the option of fitting MARS aftermarket tail lights like siml.

That looks nice.... about 10 years ago. These cars are well aged that the beauty is in maintaining an OEM+ look. That simply looks like it's screaming for attention, to a car that no longer carries that attitude. IMO once bimmers are a gen old, they gotta follow a classy standard, where they're impressing people with how well they look for their age.

Dedicated track cars get the exception where they can still look wild af and act out for attention on the streets lol

Why's it so hard to find a junk LCI in Aus? I've discovered that it ends up costing much cheaper when you're looking for an actual LCI at yards or dismantlers to pull parts from, instead of specifically looking for individual parts removed and ready on a silver platter, that's how I sell parts lol

Last two tailgates I scored, I inquired about the car, they said they had it, I came by... told them I want the tailgate, and give me a deal if I take the outer tails as well (inners are sold with the tailgate).

Yeah I do tend to agree that the aftermarket lights do look cheap and ricey

Unfortunately here in Australia, E91's are pretty uncommon, to the ponit they're jokingly referred to as unicorns. I've already called a lot of wreckers and only one had an E91 LCI but they were in another state 12 hours drive away and the money they wanted for shipping was astronomical.

I'll just keep looking and one ever does pop up for the right price, I'll probably get it.

Just read these posts, then went over to the UK classifieds section to see what's on offer... Only a rear LCI tailgate conversion It's not really something that's concerned me at all before...the tailgate is generally behind me.

I don't know the price of used parts in the UK, but if its within your price range, I reckon you should go for it. Everything seems to be there for a full conversion. And if your car is black, an added bonus.
