Winter Wheels/Tires - 17x7.0 ET40 205/50R17

A friend of a friend is selling a set of winter tires on 17x7 et 40 rims for pretty cheap. They have quite a bit of tread left and i'd like to purchase if they will fit okay and not look retarded.

He claims they were from an early 2000s 330 and purchased from tire rack.

How will these fit on a 2008 328xi? I have the 17x8.0 stock wheels currently.

Tire calculator gave me: 7mm MORE clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will RETRACT 19mm

with almost perfect diameter match.

Will these fit? Will they look retarded? Should I get spacers?

Yes, but will look really stupid. Wheels will be very sunken in. You could use only the tyres. You would need 20mm spacer to get it where your stock wheels are and those are still sunken in.

I use 17x8 et20 at front and 17x8 et20+ 10mm spacer at rear as my winter setup.

Actually for winter use you may not mind having them being more tucked in. This can help prevent having some snow/salt/slush being thrown onto the side of the car. You could use some spacers for cosmetics, but for winter use I probably would not.
