Apex arc 8 profile 3 245/40/17

Was wanting to run these specs up front on my 2010 335i e92 pre lci m sport. Would I need spacers? If so what size? Will be ordering rims here soon

This is the exact size I was thinking of running on my E90 330i if I decide to get new wheels when my current tires need to be replaced.

I run 255 40 R17. Fits perfect no rub! Only thing is I cant get the car to slide anymore LOL. Grips so hard that I feel the suspension cant keep up to it.

What is your reasoning to run a 17 inch apposed to the 18? More comfortable ride with thicker sidewall?

Interested with how this will turn out, do you know how much lighter? what staggered tire size setup would you be running ideally?

Well with these Apex rims, 17's are 16.5lb/ea, 18s are 18.45lb/ea in the same widths.

So about 7.8 lbs less for total of 4

Yes I was on 18s and could notice the difference in comfort and grip combined. Had Oem style 197 Bbs with stock tire sizes. It wasnt harsh but it wasnt as comfy as this. Then 17 square setup is the best. 17x9 > 18x8.5. Im not lowered im stock height. This is both of them same suspension setup.

Tires are also cheaper to and more sidewall helps out. Plus the wheels are lighter in 17s by a small margin. Its more closer to oem settings for suspension in terms of engineering. On e90s I think getting the smallest size that clears the brake calipers is ideal.

Yeah for performance you want the meatier/taller sidewall for sure. And yes ideally performance/comfort wise it would be best to run the smallest rim diameter allowed with your brake setup. I would love to run 17's on the track, but my 370mm brake setup will only allow 18" Arc 8. I run 19's on the street because they just look better and I don't care about the performance as much while dailying it.

Follow the link in the second post. Apex has an excellent guide. I agree, this looks great and has a lot of benefits for performance, convenience with nice even tire rotations, and cheaper tires. I love this setup and will be seriously considering it when it comes time for new tires.

Quote:
Square Setups
Recommended for most types of street and performance driving. Allows proper front-to-rear tire rotation to extend tire life & improve handling balance.

Front & Rear: 17x9" ET30 with 245/40-17 tires
Direct fit.
Available in ARC-8, ARC-8R, and EC-7R designs.
255/40-17 can be used but may require front negative camber.
5mm front spacers may be required with certain aftermarket suspensions, see below.
Hey 2one3E90 can you confirm you have the ET30 offset?

It says 255/40-17 can be used but may require negative front camber. Would the M3 control arms provide enough negative camber to clear those wider tires?

I DO HAVE ET30. I have M3 control arms with a performance oriented alignment.

I'm running 245/45 r17 on my e92. It's a little more sidewall, but I like a meaty tire.

I presume you're running those in all four corners? I'm interested in doing the same so I have a few questions
1- What's you're suspension setup? Any rubbing? I have stock sport suspension.
2- How's the ride? what psi are you running?
