iPod cable - can't get it to work

So I bought a 2007 E90 335i CPO with iDrive and it had the iPod cable in the glove box already installed. i plugged my iPod in and...nothing. so i took it back to the dealer and they wanted to charge me 400 bucks to reprogram it. no way. so i took it to another dealer who supposedly fixed it, and now that i've got the car back, the service advisor said that i should be able to use the iPod by selecting CD1. well, i can't. i've tried unplugging it, turning off the car, and then turning it back on with it plugged in and every other combination. i've looked through what seems like every menu and every option trying to figure out what to do, and nothing seems to work.

can anyone here tell me what i'm doing wrong?

Glove box?

My USB cable for the iPhone/iPod is in the hand rest in the middle..
the USB slot in the glovebox (on mine, which I believe is only for 09+) is to put songs onto the HDD

Hopefully someone with a 07 can help you out..

Could be the cable itself. Had mine replaced under warranty, which should be applicable to your CPO car. I don't know about CD1. When my Ipod is connected and I press the audio button on the head unit, I've got 3 choices: Tuner, CD and Ipod. Hope you can get it resolved under warranty.

He has the non 6fl ipod retrofit. Not as quick as the usb option, but it will work.

It works much like a cd changer (it actually emulates one), so yes, going to cd's 1-5 will give you the different options for the ipod. As far as why it doesn't work, I am sorry to hear that and fortunately the ipod retrofit in my father's 06 e60 m5 is still working fine.
