Do I need to break a window?

2006 e90 320i

Key fob stopped working a while back and I've been using the key. (Didn't bother fixing fob because I was getting a new car)

Have today opened the fob and the battery is still throwing 3v.

Today, the key barrel broke. (Key moves freely from 9 to 3 and back with no resistance).

Key opens the boot - I can get in the boot!

Key fob starts the car fine... if I can get the door open...

Rang locksmith, he suggested it's time for brute force!

My thoughs are to chat to the local BMW people tomorrow in case they have a solution with the fob that doesn't coat the earth, otherwise drill out the barrel? (Replacement $100)

Have ordered a new car about a month ago... still no eta (hybrid Corolla)

Not sure which state you are in but the RACQ unlocked my E90 by prying the top of the door with an inflatable airbag and then pushing the central locking button on the dash. Took him probably 2 mins max.
