it's basically right in line with inflation, based on this calculator: https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

64k in 2009 is equal to a little over $86k in 2022.

True. With manufacturer incentives being a thing of the past, there would be significant increase in per unit profit for BMW with these MSRP increases and removing all customer incentives.

Like prices were great deals before the increase. It's all arbitrary and artificial.

This seems more about demand tbh. The M card saw their highest sales in the last 2-3 years thanks to YouTubers and social media. It only makes sense to capitalize. Hopefully with high interest rates and high gas prices demand wanes a bit so there can be discounts.

A 4 digit destination fee number would have a negative psychological affect on a potential buyer.
Is the destination fee for having the parts delivered to the factory or the car delivered to me? Because $1,000 fee when I do a performance center delivery seems really expensive when all they have to do is drive the car across the street.

A destination fee to my knowledge is typically the freight fee or transportation fee, that the manufacturer charges the customer to deliver the vehicle from the factory to the dealership. But ya for PCD that is a valid point on those models.

Destination fee is car delivered to you via dealership or PCD. Unfortunately that's the drawback of a US manufactured X vehicle, as you can't win em all. Positive is when you lease your only paying for 45% of the destination fee if for example the residual is 55%. I factor in the $1,000 BMW car club rebate of the X5M as a "wash".

BMW's zero cost PCD is still a bargain.

Porsche charges extra fee for their Porsche Experience Center Delivery and so do Chevy for Corvette Museum Delivery in addition to the Destination fee.

Unfortunately what happens during these high inflation periods is the prices never come back down or at least don't come back too much to where they were prior. It does suck especially knowing why it happened.

Geez…M5 getting the highest increase!

Glad I got mine last year - I wouldn't be surprised if additional price increases materialize.

For PCD, I guess that fee pays for the stay, meals, and track time.

Yeah let's not forget all Incentives are gone

So a $77,000 M3 in 2019-2020 was actually like $70,000
Now it's $82,000 no discounts

So that's 12,000 increase to actual customer paid price or 17%

$62,000 in 2009 is equal to $84,893.92 today according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics' inflation calculator.

The 2009 base price of $57,850 is equivalent to $79,211.51 today.
