Lightbulb Chicagoland Group DIY & Meet/Get Together *UPDATED*

*UPDATED!! 2/7/09

Alright guys, so it's been a while since we've had a meet of any kind, and while I know the weather outside sucks, pretty bad, I'm still doing mods to my car, even simple ones, and I'm sure a lot of you guys are out there too! Which brings me to throw an idea out there, since I don't think i'm the only one that would be interested in something like this, I'd like to setup a DIY meet where experienced members can help and guide those trying new DIY's. A few things that I myself would like some help with are:

1. Hard wiring the V1, via sunroof or A pillar.
2. The Corner delete mod, to get rid of that ugly amber corner light, I'm just not much on wiring, at least in this case.
3. CF wrapping interiors, from what I've read on the forums, patience, precision, and a sharp knife are the most necessary tools for this job.
4. Vinyl trim overlay for the e92 exterior, either DIY, or getting a shop recommended to do this for me/us.
*5. Professionally Repair curb rash from rims
*6. Find a professional dent/ding repair service

These are just a few things that I personally would like to do, and I'm sure you've each got your own mods in mind and we could definitely make the best of this. Now, since this is my idea, and we would need somewhere to do this, I nominate my garage in(Lemont, SW BURBS), it has plenty of room and it partially heated (by that I mean we have vents that lead into the garage from the boiler room leading heat into a rather cold garage).

Of course, this idea is open to changes and any input from any interested parties is appreciated. For me personally, Saturday would be a good day as well as Sunday throughout; however, if enough interest is generated for a particular day/time frame, I'd willing to work that out too. I really hope we can make something of this and I'll do my best to provide what knowledge I have. Let me know guys!!

Choopy aka Chris

For that vinyl overlay on the exterior trim, I am taking my car to X-treme Graphics in Villa Park. They quoted me $100 to do a matte black vinyl overlay

I'm in need of that CF interior trim wrap as well, but that might take a while if you're doing 1 car at a time.

I'd be down for a V1 hard wiring session. Probably need some lead time to order the necessary parts though.

Well, as it stands. My house. Lemont 355 and Archer more/less
If you are 100%, then so am I. I'd love to wrap my interior. Just take a few pointers and then go on from there

This is a great idea! I have experience with all the DIYs you listed above and wouldn't mind helping others out. Unfortunately my only transportation here in the midwest is my r6. If you plan another one of these meets in the spring though, I'm game!

if we put this off till march (or do another one) I'd totally be down. I've done quite a few mods as well and am always eager to learn/help with new ones.

cyphr if you wanna roll down to one of these with me in like a month I'd be happy to take you... maybe it'd be a good place for me to pay you to wrap my to dash panels and everyone else can watch you and Neb at work.

can we set a date for like a mid march DIY meet? Maybe it won't be so cold and we could fit 4-6 cars in the garage and driveway and not freeze our asses off.

I might also have some parts to sell off for you guys depending on what I get to replace my 328

With the other cosmetic mods I'm doing to my car (darker wheels, grills, etc), the bright aluminum trim stands out... or will even look out of place IMO. So, I wanted it to have a subtle look.

Too shiny? To be honest, I've never seen gloss black exterior trim.

Thanks for the offer Seth. March is really busy for me in terms school but if everyone is free early April (ala April 4th) I could do that. Working with the vinyl in the warmer weather will be an added benefit.

Nice! We could perhaps use April 4th as a Chicago area meet too perhaps?
