Vmr vs apex quality?
I am looking for some feed back on the quality of each company. I know these aren't $4000 wheels so I'm not expecting top notch, but how well do they hold up and how strong are they? Trying to find a "race" style wheel at a reasonable price is ridiculous ha.
Thanks |

Both make flow forged lines of wheels light, strong, under $1500/set.
VMR tends to have shallow concave, high offset, narrow 8.5 front fitments for non-M cars. VMR has many great designs! Apex has great fitment options and profiles, but limited designs. 19x9" +24ish (mid 20's offset range) offset is the ideal fit upfront no rub lowered on a 225. Both are widely used on bmw's it comes down to the fitment and style you like best.

Don't know about VMR. I've owned both Forgestar and now Apex.
Forgestar = CRAP! Good if you want weird offsets. Bad if you want a durable wheel. I have three cracked Forgestar wheels from the roads around here. I love the fit and finish on Apex. Bought a set to replace the Forgestar wheels. Also Apex stocks their wheels and will sell you a single. Their designs don't change often.

APEXes are great wheels. Use them on my heavily track-focused 135i without issue.

If you need clarity on a specific subject of wheel construction, or finish please feel free to reach out. Also, just to note, each and every APEX wheel is flow-formed, not just a select style or size.
APEX as a brand was built on our quality vs. cost ratio and we hope you find something that fits your needs and taste.

i have been on this forum for a very long time... still have stock wheels! I know how is that possible? But anyway over the years, very subjectively I know, most people say good things about apex wheels. very strong, very light and great looking. the vmr reviews are more mixed with both good and bad comments.

Apex is better than VMR. VMR are amongst the cheapest wheels you can find in terms of cost and quality.

All of our wheels are manufactured and tested to meet or exceed OEM specifications. We offer a wide variety of fitment options from conservative to aggressive. All of our recommended fitments are guaranteed rub free at stock to mildly lowered ride height.
OP let me know if there is a specific design that you were interested in and I'll be happy to send you a quote!

Yes they are! We have a couple of other Flow Formed options as well. Here's the V810s on an F30.

if you damage your Apex wheel and buy replacement you can send the damaged back and receive about 50% of what was originally worth back. I don't think other companies can match that. Also, they were the only company ( thank you David) that work with me on finding out whether a 18" wheel will clear mine (at the time very first set ever installed) 370mm f30 brakes on e90.

I am very satisfied with my Apex wheels. So much so, that I have purchased a 2nd set for my winter setup.

never owned VMR wheels but I have owned TSW N-rings, Forgestar, Breyton race gts, and others just to name a few.
I found the Apex wheels to be a great quality so far as good as the above wheels if not better. I cannot get into too much technical aspects of which are better, but I never had a problem with how strong any of the above wheels are vs the Apex, but I found the finish to be better on the apex wheels then the TSW wheels by a long shot |

Even if I get 25% credit that would be great. I have a set of Forgestar F14 that are going for recycle because three of them are cracked. I'll keep the forth to mount a spare on. Don't buy Forgestar unless you want some strange offset.....

All wheels are susceptible to bending or cracking over potholes, including OEM BMW wheels (ask any dealership tech) as well as $2000/ea purpose built-race wheels.
There are countless factors that go into wheel design that will determine its strength and ability to handle rough impacts such as potholes, road debris, berms, etc. All of our wheels are flow-formed and designed with track use in mind, which means they must deal with the extreme temperatures and forces that are at play in a competition environment, in addition to dealing with a crater-ridden commute the next morning. The most important thing you'll want to look at are load ratings and certifications. All of our wheels (every size of every design) undergo crush testing and load rating verification by the VIA in Japan, and are certified to meet JWL standards. There are many fantastic and perfectly safe wheel options out there, just make sure your research is thorough so you don't end up in a bad situation. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have as well. --Dylan

I have owned both brands. I find the apex powder coat seems to hold up better than the vmr which seemed to chip easily. A huge plus is the apex tend to be lighter although a little more expensive.
If I was shopping again I would lean towards apex over vmr.

Incredibly satisfied with the quality and robustness of my APEX wheels. They're designed and built with track use in mind, and it shows. I regularly take my car for spirited drives on some rougher back roads, and I haven't had any issues, even with a stiffer coilover setup.
