MSV80 DME Mosfets

Anybody ever just change out/ upgrade the mosfets in their DME proactively w/ out having any issues?

I'm thinking of doing this, but I don't want to have problems and then be forced to spend $400-600 on an MSV81, when I should have just left it alone

I've left mine alone, if I have to, would just go for the MSD81 upgrade.

I had a mosfet fail on 2 separate occasions. Both times I was able to limp the car home. I'd say just having the replacement mosfets on hand is reasonable enough so you don't have to wait several days to get them if you have a failure. I wouldn't swap them proactively simply because I didn't find it to be the easiest soldering job. It all comes down to your skill set.

That's a good idea to have them on hand. 👍

I feel like you are trolling.

mweisdorfer I don't think this would be too difficult to do if you have the proper tools.
I have a solder station, and have soldered a lot of things and I am local if you want to try it. Just make sure you purchase the right solder paste for the job.

I know disconnecting negative is good enough, just wanted to make sure. I never messed around with dme before.
