Repinning the N52 TB plug to N54 type..
Has anyone done this? I want to change my N52 TB to a N54 but I have a 12/06 build date car so I have the old type.. I got a used TB for $67 so I'm not super invested if it's gonna be a pita

you definitely have MSV80, the N54 TB should work. they actually built the 2006 330i along side the 2007 328i for a while. The change in the TB is between MSV70 and MSV80, IIRC.
it's probably worth just plugging it in and giving it a go. it'll work or it won't. most likely, it will just work. |

The shape of the plug/socket is different but both have 6 pins
.. Do I cut and splice OR is it better to de-pin/re-pin. Update: I just realized that I might be an idiot but more once I get up tomorrow and check something.. Updated Update: I am an idiot and got my spare TB and it's N52 engine type confused so my N54 will work.. but my wife took my little Tupperware of bmw torx bits to school to build something for her classroom
