Just purchased a 2006 325i that has no audio. It has Logic 7 (S677 according to the VIN).

Original owner bought a used Professional HU but it didn't fix the problem.

This HU doesn't display any of the L7 options.

My thinking at this time is the replacement HU has not been coded for the L7 and I should code it to the original VO.

I know there are a plethora of other things it may be, but I've checked the MOST network and the amp to the best of my limited abilities, and both "seem" to be functioning.

Am I correct in thinking that coding the HU is the first Logic step?

Yep and your lucky its on 06 because a simple K/D can cable should work for the
programming. (as long as he bought a Radio that has Most)
But his orignal Radio may not have been the problem unless he was replacing
it for Pixel issues those Radio's don't fail for much of anything else.

I'm aware, and thoroughly expect it to be a bigger issue. But my thinking is that if the radio isn't displaying any of the L7 features (eq etc) then nothing else I attempt will ever work.

Thanks for the confirmation! Now I'm off to the coding forum to see if I can code it to the VO.

Once you get standard tools working you can read the Radio File with
NCSexpert..

Thank you sir! Received my cable today, coded the radio to L7... and problem solved.

Saved me around 200.00 on the amp I thought might need replacing.

Sometimes things work.

plus you have diagnostics and coding ability now.

If you want a cheap way to get usb and sd music bluetooth streaming , bluetooth phone and a extra aux
This is the cheap way out while retaining fidelity by not having to go through the aux.
