Nice one on the deal though Mr Palmball!

Oh, I reckon it'll last till we get the new RRS at the end of the year /early next year and no, I won't get back £35k you funny fucker!

Given I haven't paid a penny deposit, it will probably cost me a couple of k's to get out of it in a year (by my calcs, I'll owe £33k by December and it'll be worth £30-31k, depending on the scale of impact of the 'new' model). The way I see it, I either pay a deposit now or when I get rid of it

Andrew, cracking deal on the merc. Nothing wrong with buying an older model, I worried a little when I got the 997 but actually it really doesn't matter as 90% of people on the road won't even notice.

The deprecation on the merc will be a little heavier but you are going into it knowing that and as you have paid no deposit it's not the end of the world. If you went for a lease you would have to pay to get out of it so which ever way you buy it there will be a cost but I reckon the pcp will be cheaper.

Looking forward to pics of the sls and the new merc

Hey, Palmer, true to form, another day, another new car (and more deposits ).

You're old neighbour (or should I say ex-neighbour), do you think he'd be interested in taking the Zed off my hands?? After 12 months searching my perfect replacement appeared today but fear it's just ever so slightly out of grasp. I'm being offered £16,500 for the Zed but anything over would be appreciated. Let me know and I'll send over details if he's interested (cheapest like-for-like on AT is £19k or on Nissan £20k). Cheers bud.

He might do actually - I'll see him Saturday and see what he says. Another option is that he can advertise it for you and if he sells it, pay him a couple of hundred quid plus his expenses. I did both the Mini and DS3 this way and he got them both sold in two weeks. I'll see what he wants to do.

Erm....no more deposits paid today!?!?

Nice one; I'll ping you some details over (...just sent to ...@gmail)...

There's a local guy who can do the 'advertise on my behalf' service but haven't really got the patience for that having spotted a car. Quick sale is what I'm after.

Palmball good call on the coupe, plus ta for being frank with the figures - it's pretty helpful for people like me who've only ever used HP and get 'scared' of PCP's...

I wonder if the SLS key and the E Coupe key are the same?

Not received anything....but note that your car is double the price what he'd normally deal in hence I normally let him sell them on my behalf. Is easy though when he live(d) opposite me!

They do

Not sure why the fear some people have on PCP's - you can get out of them at anytime like any normal HP as long as the car value exceeds the balanced owed (or you just pay any negative). Like any HP, you sell the car and simultaneously settle the finance.

In fact, as an example, a 3 year PCP is largely no different to 5 year HP - the monthly payments are similar and the ballon on a PCP is often similar to the sum of the final 2 years on a 5 year deal. The cost to 'get out' of the car at anytime in the term is also similar. It's just that you find more subsidies and low rate deals on PCP's, hence thats why I tend to do them. Now, this theory doesn't apply where a car has VERY good residuals....my SLS being an example has such a high final payment (much higher than what the final 2 years worth of payments would be on a 5 year HP deal) as it loses a relatively small amount over the next 3 years. This means a PCP was the best option by some margin for this car.

That's the same as my 911, if I took HP it would have been silly prices whereas PCP is ok. Porsche were doing slightly higher GFV on the c2s when I bought mine which made it way cheaper than HP. I am just getting to the point where it will cost me nothing to sell (ie car is worth the same as balance).

Which is good when you think what it's list price was and what she is worth now, it's lost (from list and not what I paid) around £30k in 16 months

In Germany Mercs typically have a "Wackel-Dackel" (nodding sausage dog) in the rear window. Ah yes, and a loo roll with a crocheted cover. Will you be getting that for your Mercs as well?

Here's the doggy, with a Mercedes collar:

In your cars it will then look like this:

Porsche finance is just good all round....even on my used Turbo, the interest was reasonable and the residuals unreal.

If you're evens after 16 months on a new one....well done!

THERE IS GOOD NEWS.....THE MONEY FROM WWAC HAS CLEARED TODAY ALMOST ON THE 3PM DOT THAT THEY SAID IT WOULD BE.

So, it seems it really was a simple and faultless process that went exactly as they told me it would.

Wow, I think I completed reading about your Jaguar affair just the other week.
Congrats on the SLS; is a stunning car. But where does this ladder end?

My neighbour has progressed through the cars in an unsimilar fashion (M3 > 911 > Ferrari 360 > Gallardo). I try to guess his next move but he tells me his pinnacle would be something like an E-type.

Enjoy it

Andrew, you are nuts, you have a serious problem with motors.

I'm gutted now because wwac.com offered about a grand more than the others when i recently sold the Mrs citroen. I didn't trust them one bit, mostly because of the 4 day mullarky, and having to leave them the keys, the car, and the V5, walking away with jack crap.... Alas, I didn't accept it. I have to say you've got some balls. I'm glad it worked out for you.
