I've got a guy looking to sell a cylinder head off an 07 and an 08 328i for my future projects of messing around. Are these the same as the ones on my LCI 328i? Looking at realoem it seems it is, but when looking online, most everyone is grouping them as 06-08 and 09-11 cylinder heads. Thanks in advance.

Newer heads should have an improved valvetronic assembly that eliminated the common lifter tick. Or something to that effect... really can't remember the name of the component(s) or if there are any other real differences.
plastic vcg compared to me, for sure. (I have magnesium... 06 330i).

Might be more stuff to it, though!

Correct. But going forward, all cylinder heads from 07- get the newer superseded head part number.

I don't have the time to look, but you might find a difference in the cylinder head combustion chamber.

For the N51 yes, but not the N52 that I'm aware of.

Close, but no. The head casting is a little different, which eliminates air in the hydraulic lifters - this has nothing to do with valvetronic, which did not change.

So hypothetically if one was to go with a solid lifter setup without valvetronic would that matter?

Thank you again, for a few bucks I figure to mess around with and mock everything up before I'd just direct bolt on when I'd like to turn my car into a dedicated track car!

Also correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the date for the updated head is somewhere around Oct. 2008.

My July 2008 head will tick super loud if I take a few short, cold trips.
