My new Single Turbo build
Im a pretty active member on the 1Addicts forum with my fbo 135i but ive recently gotten into the e90 world. i just picked myself up a 335i e90 with a single turbo kit. Car was located in Bakersfield, CA which is where JPworks lives. I know a few friends who contacted him and somehow this was his own personal car! Car does run and drive but not very good. Here are some pics

My JPworks E90 Build Thread
As any new owner does, i looked around the car and noticed it has a 7.5 inch race intercooler and what looks to be a fully custom exhaust. Car is a bit beat up cosmetically wise. Thr engine turns on but doesnt run very good. I hooked up my MHD phone to the car and it showed that the car was running a mhd jb4 backend flash, but with no jb4 :/ I reset the codes and thr car started running better and i drove it in my RV park where im going to be working on it.

i then started to dive into the engine. here are a few things that ive noticed are bad or need replacing:
-the turbo (precision 6766) has a lot of shaft play and needs rebuilding - the AC line that goes to the evaporator needs to be replaced (ifs cut halfway under the turbo) - the wastegate wasnt even connected to the harness (hence trouble codes) - the injector bracket holdown screw isnt oem and doesnt tighten the injector. once compression hits the cylinder it pops out. - whole engine bay needs to be clean (Been parked in a dirt field and everything is caked in 1/4 inch thick of dirt) - chargepipe has a fake tial BOV - all wastegate lines were autozone (bought push lock nylon lines) As for work, im going to be pulling the engine out today and will be cleaning everything. Ive ordered all new gasket, heatwrap for manifold, push lock fittings, and will be getting the turbo rebuilt soon. Will be updating everyday as i do more and more stuff |

Nice pick up! Definitely need a good wash and cleaning of the engine bay. The interior looks in good condition. Does it have a bbk? I see yellow calipers. Hope you sort out all of the issues so it'll be driving good. M-sport/tech front and rear bumpers with new wheels will make it look nice. Enjoy the car!

How much HP was this thing pushing? Usually these are manual swapped builds especially with that turbo. Unless it's not pushing thatuch power, or it has a built auto tranny.

Motor came out in 3 hours (not bad for a 17 year old ) Going to be buying new motor mounts, oil feed line, oil drain line, rear main seal, valve cover, and other coolant hoses. Going to get my precision 6766 rebuilt tomorrow.

Spent a good amount of time taking everything off the motor. Cleaned the motor and the rest of the car. Found some guy who made me a 4 an oil feed line because the one was cut in half and was joined with a hose barb. Apparently all the injector lockdown threads in the head are stripped, so i need to chase those.

Been a while since i had worked on the car. Prom was last weekend and didnt want to has some greasy hands lmao. I did remove the tranny today and install the new rear main seal. Also did the oil filter housing gasket. Will be finishing up the engine by doing the valve cover, oil pan, and either retapping the head for the injector holdown or using helicoils. Shooting to get the engine in on saturday and starting her up.

From the photo I think is for injector 3 & 4 but how is that plate bolted on? If the threaded hole in the head is stripped that means they had the plate installed wrong, like plate over plate of something? See, there is a plate on the injector showing on the bottom in the photo:

[QUOTE=feuer;23146923]the plate was installed right, but i think they just used an impact gun instead of by hand. ive taken these brackets off too many times and never stripped the holes.

So in post#19 my drawing there isn't how the plate needs to go? I have installed 100s of injectors on n54 and have seen from stripped holes to snapped bolts, to wrong bolts, to plate installed up side down and even home made plates lol.
