E92 - Bluetooth

The info on the BMW site looks very out of date. What phones have people got working with the BMW Bluetooth Option?

Nokia 6230i. But it doesn't have an external antenna plug so the handsfreed adapter uses an induction-like coil to connect to the car's antenna. Other than that I haven't had any problem with it.

I use the Sony Ericsson K750i with the snap-in adaptor. Works great. My friends K800i also worked fine over Bluetooth.

Contrary to what it says on the BMW site I discovered there is a snap in connector for the Motorola RAZR V3. It works well. But am I the only person that thinks having to pay £60 for a snap in connector when I've paid over £500 for the bluetooth option is a rip off!

You're not the only one, after all who orders BT if they don't want to use it with a phone

You'd feel less annoyed if they loaded the cost of the option to include a "free" adaptor.

I have bluetooth and it works fine with my Motorola RAZR V3i. I also bought the cradle (£60) as I wanted to charge the phone in the car, have somewhere to put it to stop it rolling around and wanted to acheive better signal quality through the external antenna on the car. Not convinced it provides a better signal though.
Onm y previuos car (E60) I also bought a cradle for my previous phone Nokia 6230 - worked very well and definatley boosted the signal. Then when I got my current phone I sold the Nokia cradle on ebay for the same price I bought it 9 months earlier from a BMW dealer (new)!
I agree though £60 is a rip off!

£60 is a huge rip off. But there seems to be no other option - except for ebay - where they are near enough the same price.

£130 for the snap in adaptor on a Merc when you specify the bluetooth telprep....now that is a rip off. My aftermarket kit for my E90 cost £225, and is both bluetooth and cradle connection window antenna. It might not look as neat (although I don't like the fin when you get factory fit!) but the option price is ridiculous.

I bought a snap-in adaptor for my old SE T610 from ebay, a few months ago, for £5- works fine & it does boost the signal strength, with the link to the external aerial.

The last place I'd go for a snap-in adaptor would be the stealership.

I have a colleague who was quoted £1500 to upgrade a merc bluetooth kit from a 6310i to a 6230i - considering they are just the 'typical' business phones of their day it seems amazing.

Apparently merc said they needed to replace the entire bluetooth kit.

My employer provided me with a major phone manufacturer bluetooth kit fitted. Didn't cost me a penny.

I wouldn't have paid for Bluetooth anyway. Automotive industry is unable to keep uo with the fast pace of mobile technology.

Worse come to worse, with BMW they'd probably only need to upgrade the car's software and get a different adapter for the cradle. And the adapter isn't really necessary unless you want the charge capability and the connection to the external antenna.

Ericsson W810i

Is anybody using a W810i with the bluetooth option ? My e92 is due end feb. and I did not order the adaptor yet (want to check first if the W810i is compatible with the car bluetooth). The BMW website claims it is not fully compatible : what do they mean ??

Hi Folks

For those of you who have the Motorola V3x or SLVR and are considering ordering the option of the BMW OEM Bluetooth kit but concerned about their compatibility. Worry no more, I can confirm that either handsets are 100% compatible with it; although they are not on the BMW recommended equipments list.

I hope this helps.

NB. they are UK spec phones.
