E92 OEM 320d oil filter and seals

I have just purchased some Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 oil from halfords for my imminent oil change, I just need to work out whether it is worth getting the filter and seals etc myself or letting the garage get them for me.

Is there anywhere other than BMW themselves where you can get them from?

Cheers, Alex

Alex, I would strictly recommend you to buy original bmw filter which comes with all the O-rings. It only cost 10-15 pounds.
If you leave it to garage, they may get Aftermarket filter. The problem with aftermarket filters are fitment issue where O-rings may not fit properly and you may have issues of oil leaking from filter housing.

Ideal, I'll source them myself then. just got to find the time to get there.

Can you get OEM parts online?

Try e-bay, where some of them are selling BMW parts.
Dont forget that you will have to pay the postage.
Or try Anneka here.
She may be able to post you the filter.
I paid 11 pounds for my petrol from BMW dealer, but your one is diesel, I guess.

It is far better if you go to your local stealer (if on a reasonable disance).

I used a Mann filter on mine. Came with the filter housing seal but not the smaller one that sits on the locating shaft. I'll be trying OEM next time to see if there's any tangible difference.

When I say e-bay, that means, original BMW one on ebay by BMW dealers.

Sorry to jump in on this but what about the oil/filter packs from OpieOils?

I just bought 7 ltrs of Mobil 1 with a UFI Oil Filter off this site, am I going to have the same problems with the washers/ O rings not fitting properly?

As far as I know Bmw o rings are tested to last upto 20-25k.
All other filters are not tested vigorously and prone to fail after 10k.
You can either return the filter and get the bmw one or use the aftermarket but keep an eye on it after 10k.
