It will be the release of the housing that has just been completed.

Time for a quick update on a few things As everybody should be aware by now the RR500 are no longer and were replaced with RR550s. Considering the RR650’s are not out as of yet, Wayne sent us two sets of the RR550s to be installed and tested to go on the 535xi E61 and 335i E92 – The install was finished on the E61 and they are pulling strong, you can find info and updates to these turbo on some other forums along with Wedge ‘s Review of them as well.

The housing is complete, and is made of cast stainless (Think Tial Exhaust Housing). The pictures below are of a rough cast and have yet to be machined. Along with the new exhaust will be custom CHAR and custom Compressor housing. I will have more pictures coming up of both of those items once Wayne has completed pictures of the machining. Note that Hexon is not calling them RR650 just yet simply because they need to be tested and if they perform well above the expected RR650 a new naming will be used. I don’t want to get all caught up in the naming convention so we can just call them Stg3 Beta Production run until the final results from testing come in.

Some notes about the new turbo – NOTE NO SPECS GIVEN UNTIL TEST IS COMPLETE

Everything is custom and made in house so there is no third party sourcing on these products.

  • Exhaust housing – Cast Stainless – Casting complete waiting for machining
  • Compressor Housing – Mold compete should be machining this week
  • CHAR – Completed – Waiting for testing
  • Manifold – Currently in testing – A few designs are being considering from complete cast to tubular.

Damn that thing sounds sick! I need these turbos in my life. Also, if you want to make fun of your friend for filming you in portrait mode - i totally support that. http://saynotoverticalvideos.com/

There will be more updates to come very soon as well. Looks like we will have a better timeline on things.

Thanks! Ya lots of time and effort has gone into the wagon I don't think my Dad will be selling it anytime soon. Makes me want to get one and do the same thing to it. In person the sound is intoxicating. As soon as these turbos are ready they will be tested on wagon and more than likely going on the 335i as well.

Thanks! This is actually his wagon so he is driving and I'm filming in portrait mode... I know I know. Do it! The RR550s are reaching a lot of hands, for the price point, and performance they are hard to beat. Or just hold out for a bigger option to hit all depends on your HP goals.

Manifold and timeline update

Time line
Phase 1:
(ETA 3 to 4 weeks)

To finish a complete set of Hybrid 3 and send them to Wedge Performance for the test result and further adjustment if needed.

Phase 2:
(ETA 6 to 8 weeks)

To have the first final production version for sales. Hexon will reserve units to all dealers and few customers been working with them on the project. The goal is to have various fuel setup test result and the mod setup to gather much as information as possible.

Phase 3:
(ETA 8 weeks +)

Hexon will be taking all the order from everyone.

Updated pictures of the coast stainless manifold with increased runner diameter.

Why are they redoing the exhaust manifold? I was not under the impression that it was a flow restriction.

Looks nice though!

Dan,

Why not move this out of the the regional section? Let's get some more eyes and discussion going on these developments, this is cool stuff!

Why take chances? Especially when we are looking to make 700+ whp.

The reason would be to make them more affordable, that's all. I'm guessing the custom manifolds would add another $500-$1000 to the final cost.

I could be wrong but I haven't heard anyone say that the factory manifolds are a restriction. Perhaps Hexon knows something we don't

I understand your thought regarding this, but I doubt it would add that much. Regardless, every other part on the turbo has been replaced, why stop there?
