nope. the kit I bought had the 10k caps and I bought an extra from Radio Shack. Make sure that you have the BROWN BMW grouns wire running to the Black Neg wire on the neg side of the cap and then to the neg side of the ballast.

that is why everyone is popping 10K caps. not grounded correclty

when i tried up in here in san jose area, none of the radio shacks or fry's had anything larger than the 4700. search for an electronics store in your area. the kind of place where you could build your own computer if you wanted to. probably a lot cheaper too. i got 2 10000uf/25v capacitors for like 3 bucks.

see if think link works:

yeah, was able to purchase the 4700 at radioshack, finally went to fry's they didn't have any, not even a label on the shelf, just ended up purchasing some off ebay for 3 bucks as well...

Next time you guys need electronic components use either:

www.digikey.com

www.mouser.com

That's where I used to buy all my electronics when in college...and still buy from them.

On another note for the member having the capacitor blowing, you can use one without polarity and don't worry about the positive and negative leg; and also one with a higher voltage rating. The higher voltage means that it can handle more power, so instead of using the 25V use one like 90V. The fact that they where in parallel only changes the capacitance (it doubles it) but your power rating remains the same... Hope this help!

ok guys so i bought some HIDs for my fogs, i also got 2 50v 10000uF capacitors. I hooked them up between the positive and negative leads that go from the stock BMW harness to the ballast. I turned them on and "nothing". I checked everything and tried again, and 20 seconds later i hear a 'pop' one of the caps exploded.

The black wire from my ballast is going to the negative side of the cap and then to the brown oem wire for the fogs. Then the red wire from my ballast is going to the other side of the cap and to the yellow/brown wire of my fog harness.

Can anybody shed some light on what can be the issue? I tried the Hids without the caps and they work, but sometimes give errors.

ok so i i have NO idea what happend before, but i rewired some new caps, 50v 10000uF caps and everything works great.

The voltage out of the oem harness was about 11.7v after i installed these caps it was about 14.2.

Maybe my negative pin didnt make good contact before, IDK.

Thanks for all your help guys.
