I have a windows 7 x64 but dont have any com ports for inpa

Hi,

I have been searching online and all over forms here to find out why my bmw standard tools aren't communicating with my 2007 e90 n54 335i vehicle. I have reformatted my laptop and installed the rhiengold and bmw standard tools from bimmergeeks site. I cant get insta-d to run on my laptop and I believed I followed the instructions. also tried running inpa and it comes up but wont connect to my vehicle. I have a k-dcan cable plugged into my usb port. my current laptop that I use doesn't have a serial rs323 port. I'm not sure how to configure this software so it reads my usb port that I plug in my k-dcan into my vehicle. please help me. I think I am finally getting close to figuring out why my vehicle hasn't started. changed out all fuel injectors with index 12 and need to code my injectors. if you read my posts on my page, you can see the problems I ran into that led me to this point. I hope someone can help me out. thank you in advance.

The d/k can with a usb is all anybody uses now you don't need a RS232 port from the Jurassic age of the PC.
You should be able to get a lot of help here.
This is also why its a good to buy your cable from
bimmergeeks.net as they give you support.

There are multiple sets of installation instructions for the software
here , which can be quite confusing. Since most of us have done this
before the Bimmergeeks stuff was available we have no idea of what
his steps are but they have to be pretty similar to what's come before.
So start reading the multiple installation threads and see where you went
wrong or if you have the correct cable.
If you have installed this stuff correctly is should be able to read the cars
Vin and fault codes for starters. I think Ista D is more forgiving but you will
have to learn to steer it on your own as we all did.

You will have to list the steps you have taken or get someone to do
a remote session . Bimmergeeks has done this for people before that have
bought there cable and considering its the better cable at half the cost
and with better performance than the one stop electronics cable that used
to be recamended its a bargain.

If you are just not a computer person you probably should find someone to do a remote session to get you up and running.

There are some manuals on Ista D and Inpa on the web and some ytube videos showing how do basic stuff with both.

IF YOU HAVE A TUNE such a Juice Box the tune has to be turned off before the software will read the DME. I recall something about putting it in Map 0
before it works. Talk to the producer of the tune about this.
