Colorado Springs bound
Hey guys,
Just wanted to introduce myself since I'll be at FT Carson in a few months. I am in the military (Army) and am getting stationed there soon. I hope to meet a lot of people and make it to some BMW meets. I was wondering how the the weather will be Jan. time frame? How's the snow? Any advice on what to expect and/or how to make the move as painless as possible is greatly appreciated. Here's my car that I'll be bringing along. |

Hard to say what the weather and snow will be like. The last couple of years we've had really mild winters. It snowed a handful of times and melted almost immediately.
Nice looking e90. Make sure you have a clear bra on it so the rocks and salt dumped during the winter don't tear up the paint.

Welcome to Colorado and thanks for your service!
We don't actually get that much snow in Colorado Springs, and when we do, it usually isn't until March/April. I run a non-Xdrive with snows during the winter, but the snow usually melts off pretty quick when it does snow. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll do my best to answer them. -Rich |

And you will learn that the weather between Denver and COS are different too. When Denver is forcast to get 8-12", COS might only get a couple or none, and sometimes its the reverse. Welcome to the land of "wait 5 minutes and the weather will change."

Welcome, I'm stationed out at Schriever (Air Force). The winters aren't too bad if you have any experience driving in snow you will be fine, they work hard to clear the roads pretty fast.

You should keep your car. I'm on Carson as well and the winters aren't bad, just don't be stupid about it. If you see a semi cruising down Academy or on Highway 25, either step on it and pass his ass, or slow down. They're the number one cause of cracked windshields and chipped up front bumpers. I've been here 2 years tho and no issues. Nice car by the way!

Welcome to Fort Carson. A clear bra is definately a good idea to get like the others have mentioned. I would also invest in a good set of winters to make it easier to avoid the non snow driving people on Carson and Colorado Springs.
