CDV

I've read a few threads about CDV that our cars have. I have yet to find one with clear pictures (I found one with pictures which I cannot open due to unregistered member).

I somewhat have an idea of what to look/remove/do, but I want to make sure before I proceed with this. Anyone have this done? Did you buy a modified one or did you just remove the CDV? Anything I should know about this?

TIA

There's 2 ways of going about doing this. If your car is under warranty, you're gonna want to get a modified cdv if you don't know how to modify the original yourself. If you aren't under warranty then you don't need one at all. Removing it is easy as long as you can get your car up enough that you can get right next to your trans. You're gonna need something to pinch off the brake line that is attached to the one end of the cdv so you don't dump all of your brake fluid on the ground. After you remove the cdv you can screw the line in directly to the other end. There are several write ups on this for the E46 which are very similar to what you'll be dealing with on the E90/92/etc. Total time to do this should be no more than 15 minutes. Very simple and very effective mod.

I had Andrew do mine. I gave him an extra $20 to put a modified CDV in place of the old one, just in case I have any warranty issues down the road.

I need to change my service over to Murray, got a service advisor you would recommend? I'm getting sick of Schomp giving me the dad speech about what I can and can't do to my car.

I knew this was coming......haha

After watching Andrew do it, the removal or the part may be tricky but the actual delete is super easy. Put it on a screwdriver, smack the thing on the top, a little piece falls out, put it back on the car and drive. Thats it.

Start at the back of the thread, might make faster reading/understanding. I didn't have a choice as no-one anywhere close offered a modified CDV.
