Yes I saw the car in the wall after it had happened. I didn't see the impact.
Turning off the TC can be dangerous. I've run once with TC off but I wouldn't do it again personally.
Twin turbos can produce alot of torque very quickly.

I usually have traction off tbf but then my geo and quaiffe help keep her pointing straight.

'twas a D!

Should have known that much Torque was risky with TC and DSC off.

Awesome result Russ!

I'm going to have to give that place a try.

You must let us know what you think of the place and if you'd go again?

Cheers Fellas, really pleased.Looking at the logs last night I could have gone with more ethanol, timing was not as sweet as Pod last week. I was nearly 1/2 second slower..but logs were almost perfect, but at Pod had time to review logs and change E content because of the delays! So I still think there is room for improvement! A perhaps need to control myself a little more

Its really interesting...there was a old guy with many years of Drag Racing...he was running a classic Dragster (700HP) V8 in a 50's shell, Jag IRS and huge slicks. He said Shakespeare is better prepared for normal cars. I certainly thought the level of grip suited my car better. At Pod I always feel a level of movement right down the track, whereas here it felt a lot more planted. I did speak to another guy who was at the Pod last week...He was running a fiesta with a turbo charged 2L Cosy...I saw him run low 10's at Pod trapping at 125. At Shakespeare he just couldn't get the start, just bogged down every run.

The track is as good as Pod, the area after the trap could be better...but good enough to see the jet car do a full throttle pass 285mph in 4.5 seconds. For me its much closer so will be using it much more in the future...its 5 mins drive from Stratford-upon-Avon which is beautiful and worth a trip on its own.

All vehicles have to be scrutineered, which in my opinion is no bad thing. Helmets are mandatory for all races. Facilities are pretty much the same as Pod, but on a smaller scale...follow your nose for the toilets
The good news is that things did move much quicker, I had 6 runs...didn't actually get there till late so my first run was a 1...called it a day just before 3. I could have had 6 more runs easily! There is no break for lunch, which pisses me off at Pod, especially if there has been a stoppage!

Hope this helps...

Cheers Russ

Sounds like lots of grip and not launching from high enough rpms.

If they check the vehicle would you have to disguise any ethanol? I think Santa Pod say no flammable liquids but people have race fuel?

I wonder if you can trap higher and the car feels more under control because it's not slightly up hill like Santa Pod? It doesn't look up hill in videos on youtube.

I think our weather doesn't help. The grip at Santa Pod always seems to be really bad. I blame the cold and wet weather but it might be the track preparation. Not using the right chemicals to make the rubber really grippy like MEK and pimp juice etc.
Also Santa Pod has a slight uphill gradient finishing higher than you started but if you look at some American tracks they are down hill. Often quite alot down hill.

Like so:

A good ET is all about getting a good 60ft time. Without that you are sc***ed!

ET is hard to nail down. Good point about the gradients. Never thought of that...

Anyone heading down this Sunday? My first run of the yr, very excited!

Just watched those vids of the BMWs hitting the wall ... so how does that happen ??? I was thinking of drag racing a friend at Santa Pod this year but those videos scare the $hit out of me as I just intended to floor it when the light goes green, but that doesn't seem to be the right way to go about things in a drag race!

Depends on your car, torque, tyres etc. Tuned 335d usually through out high torque so it's difficult to get the power down. 335i it's usually easier.
I've always kept the car in gear 1 with full traction off and just floored it.
