Talking I'm Back!

Hi all,

I had a 06 325i a few years ago, but sold it because it was boring. Since then, I had bought a 2003 540i M-sport 6-speed and a 2004 330i convertible 6-speed. Well, I still have and love the E39, but the E46 rusted out like they all do.

So, I present to you my new-to-me 07 335i sport 6-speed convertible!

I found it in the next town over from me. The owner was a cyclist, and had a custom removable hitch made for a bike rack (which I will be using!). He was the first owner who only serviced the car at BMW. I have records of the turbos, water pump, thermostat, HPFP, and injectors replaced all under warranty. It has 86K on it now. When it hits 100K, I'll do a full inspection with new shocks.

And here is my E39 with my buddy's E24:

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Regards,
Chris P.

What color is that? That combo is breathtaking. Incredible with all that maint already done .

Do you still have your e39 540? I had one a while back, that V8 torque into the 6sp was intoxicating.

Congrats and welcome brother!

I hope your hardtop treats you better than mine has so far.

Be sure to verify at a dealer or something whether those cords got replaced, and a couple of other parts that were problematic in that year of hardtop.

I would say also look out for the usual N54 HPFP/ waste gate/turbos stuff as well, but it looks like you got that covered- smart!

Best of luck with it.

I think an E39 M sport 540i 6MT is next on my list! Nice rides! I used to have that same color scheme E92!

It's Monacoblau Metallic on Dakota Saddle Brown, beautiful combo!

And yes! I will always keep my M-sport. It's a very rare model considering that only 1,200 were brought to the US.

Here is an interior shot:

All great cars, for sure. But if I had my pick, I'm going for that E24!

Be prepared to give the car a revitalization, with
new belts
new hoses, not just cooling system but also AC and power steering hoses!
belt pulleys tensioner/idler,
oil filter housing gasket
valve cover gasket

all this stuff simply wears out and needs replacement (about 80-100k miles or 8-10 years is not uncommon). And what with the increasing use of plastics, which get brittle with time, miscellaneous plastic things fail under the hood.

Thank you all! It seems that saddle brown is an uncommon color..

Just out of curiosity, are there any maintenance procedures that I should follow up with the hardtop? I have already read the lubrication thread, but am unsure if there are any common issues.

Just came across my old thread and thought that I'd post an update. The car has been flawless; I haven't had any problems at all. Having the hardtop is very enjoyable; I wouldn’t have it any other way. A few months ago I installed new OEM sport shocks and new Continental tires. I also replaced the tire pressure sensors just to be sure that they would not give me problems in the near future. I am planning to clean the valves, change out the spark plugs, and replace the oil filter housing gaskets next week. I know for a fact that the valves have never been cleaned, so I’ll post some before and after pictures with my thoughts.
