the good thing about using the ball bearing is you after you insert the ball bearing into the rubber hose and plug back in to the original spot without having the rubber hose hanging around. When you bring it to the service, they can't really tell coz everything in place rather then seeing an unplug hose with a golf T plugged the end of the hose.

Wouldn't they be able to figure it out with all the "Vroom, Vroom" noise it is making compared to a stock one?

Did you do the BB method?

If so, where'd you get the ball bearing from and what size? I read the recommended size is 7/32 of an inch...

I actually found the ball bearing on the floor somewhere and tried it on and it fit nice & tightly, I guess the size should be 7/32.

If you're going to throw FUD around, then back it up. You're not doing the search "for me", you're providing evidence to stand behind your statement. There is no well-known phenomenon linking CEL's to the exhaust flap solenoid, therefore the burden of responsibility is on you to provide that link vs. making people search for something that may not exist.

I don't want to shove ball bearings in vacuum hoses on my car. My preference is to unplug the solenoid rather than having it cycle pointlessly. However I acknowledge in the same post that a ball bearing is "benign" (you can do that search yourself) in the context of a car's vacuum system. So ultimately I can recommend that method, but I don't prefer it. If one is comfortable with having stored codes, then I'd recommend the solenoid method.

There is no contradiction, no reason for confusion and no strangeness.

Sorry bud, I don't have a burden of responsibility to explain something to you that is clearly outlined in other posts. And I'm not doing any searches as I already know the answer. Sorry you're so defensive about it though. I just pointed out that you recommend the ball bearing, yet you prefer to unplug the solenoid. Either way it's your car, I don't care what you do, just trying to help people that might want to make a better decision. Have a good one

u just need something to block the vacuum to the mechanism

+1 on Ratan's link. That's what I did and it took like 5 seconds tops. Sounds great!

Anyone want to order a big of 7/32" ball bearings? I'm willing to pay a dollar (maybe 2) towards it.

I went looking for it and couldn't find it at PartSource, Canadian Tire or HomeDepot!

After my long lunch haul, I got back to work and saw a zip tie... game over
