Alloys Advice
Hi,
I have 17" alloys on my car and I was thinking of changing to 16" as these have a higher tyre sidewall. Will 16" F30 alloys fit an E90 as they are 205/60/16 and E90 tend to be 205/55/16. Do they have the same offset? Or should I change my runflats for normal tyres? I just don't like the way the car rides. I find the ride a bit jittery and hard with the run flats. Thanks |

Agreed, this is the single simplest and cheapest way to make your car ride properly. It'll also handle better since the tyre sidewall will be able to flex slightly under load.
Oh, and runflats cost £££s more than normal tyres so you'll be saving money. |

I ditched the run flats on every BMW I have owned since 2005, and it has been a few!
Exception being the F11, seems to cope OK with them, not perfect, but liveable. Having said that, what age/mileage is your car? The bushes and suspension take a right beating with the run flats. Do you get any clunking or noise going over rough surfaces? The 330i I picked up recently has 110k and the suspension were not shot to bits, but were feeling tired. New arms, drop links, all needed replacing, and now they are done I have realised the dampers, and no doubt top mounts, need doing too. They are being fitted Friday. The run flats with that lot all feeling worn were horrible, it was just not nice, nothing major noise wise, just didn't feel tight like it should. Changing to the non run flats helped alot, but still you could tell the bushes were not their best and needed doing. |
