Radar Detector
Hi
been looking at Escort 9500ix radar detector and about to buy now It has operating bands: ka-band 34.700 GHz +/- 1300MHz Laser 904nm, 33MHz bandwidth http://www.dontgetcaught.com.au/speedcameras.html While Perth is using Multanova & Vitronic Poliscan Multanova (Ka band) is being phrased out by Vitronic Poliscan (laser based) now, may I ask if Escort 9500ix can handle the Vitronic Poliscan? For laser speed camera, are they all in the same band? (Laser band in 9500ix is 904nm 33MHz) Just want to make sure the 9500xi can pick up the laser signal from the Poliscan Many thanks for your advice. |

Laser can't be detected in advance. It pretty much warns you of laser at about the same time as the cops can get a speed readout. A laser jammer is the way to go for laser.

I had a V1 Radar detector for years and it does detect laser and the new Vitronic Poliscan, however the range of detection varies greatly depending on how the camera is setup. I had the thing warn me well outside of the camera's detection range (over 200m, camera's max detection range is 75m), if the camera is setup more facing a straight line to the road. However the range decreases greatly when the they place the camera at a sharp angle to the road or if they set it up for a rear facing setup, in both of those cases you will get very little warning. Lets just say that my V1 has saved me a couple of times from a fine in the mail or have reduced my fine from a higher range to a lower range one But yes you will get zero advance warning if it was a cop aiming his hair dryer at you, as the reading would be instant, fortunately for me cops with radar guns are fairly rare sight around my area and commonly travelled routes. I had my RD for several years now. Laser jammers are the best defence against the new cameras, but not legal though. There are stealth install options for those 2 and some jammers (like the AL priority) have the option of turning themselves off after a preset amount of time when it detects that it is jamming something to reduce the risk of police suspicions.

I read that Multanova has been phrased out, so, Ka band radar detector is kinda useless here in Perth (at least for metro area). Multanova are being used at rural area now. I also read that Poliscan (904nm laser) pretty much read your speed already by the time you got alert from the RD? Valentine 1 is known to be the best, but I have seen a used Escort 9500ix at nearly half of its original price and that's why I am tempted. While the speed camera in Perth are Poliscan (LIDAR), do you still recommend getting the Escort 9500ix? Or better save the money and eventually get a laser jammer or AL Priority? Some RD test results below: http://www.delonixradar.com.au/radar...ector-test.php http://www.delonixradar.com.au/speed...c-poliscan.php |
