I just had a full conversation with Jim: yes to euro spec dme's, not yet on msd 81, piggys are f'd with 81, if tuned with 81 vin sent to BMW munich on any service - fault stored in keyfob. 12psi is the tune for the shark injector. Can be custom to whatever, usb map change.
On phone now, gonna grab some food then go to dinan and talk.

Am I way off here? We all know how they feel about mods, there is a sticker on the Windshield and a sticker under the hood that practically say the same thing and its been there for years! (ps. am i hijacking my own thread? ) Last edited by acampo; 05-03-2008 at 01:28 PM.. |

I simply don't believe that Jim Conforti, Dinan, AA and Terry are all wrong and only Shiv is right, getting slowly more and more experienced by tuning his first BMW engine. I'm ok with to pay for to play. I'm not ok with to pay for repair. |

What about piggy tunes on the 80 DME with the newest Progman?

As the future owner of a v81 N54 (I'm flying to Munich next week to pick up my ED 535i), I read very carefully any quotes from tuners regarding the new DME. Slubu, you indicated that Jim C. stated that the status of the Shark Injector is "not yet on msd 81". Did he give any indication on when (or if) he will have a tune out for the new DME? I'm really hoping that the Shark Injector (or whatever Jim C.'s tune is ultimately named) will be an option for me... I really like the idea of not having to rip apart the ECU box to pull a piggy back before service (the plug 'n play harness of V3 would make this less painful although this assumes Shiv is ultimately successful in working around any detection capabilities of the new DME). Also, from what I have read so far, I like what appears to be Jim C.'s more conservative and long-term view to tuning the N54.
Jim C. => What are your thoughts on whether and when you might release a tune for the new v81 DME? I look forward to hearing more about your tune for the N54. |
