How to make shadowline paint?

Im painting my chrome window trim to black. Which combo of paint and clear coat is best.

flat black, gloss clear
gloss black, gloss clear
gloss black, flat clear

Is there a difference in terms of how it will look or its durability or will the differences be too subtle to notice. And will gloss or flat clear hide scratches better?

I asked around and nobody does vinyl in the area. And I know that I can paint better then I can vinyl. So if I could find a shop I would have had it vinyled, but with me doing it, I actually think the paint is easier. And its easier to fix chips in the paint rather then tears in the vinyl.

call Rob at Proform, ellicot city.
he did my clear bra.
he was going to wrap my trim in vinyl, but the dealer replaced the belt molding around the windows under warranty.

Whenever I have painted anything using paint through an air compressor, the color has always been flat, relying on the clear coat for the gloss. So I would do the flat black, with gloss clear coat.
