Thanks long!
And for everyone else who hasn't gotten this mod yet, I just want to say the pictures dont do the blacklines justice. They look 1000x better in person, especally on SG. I cant beleave I waited so long to do this.

Also, remember that you don't pull out the ENTIRE plug at first on the trunk liner... BMW plugs are actually two plugs that connect into each other, so just attach the puller to the "cap" of the plug...it will make more sense when you try it. Last edited by Joe Bimmer; 06-22-2006 at 02:26 PM.. |

I saw bavarian autosport has a nice 5 piece puller tool set for $20. The tools are nylon so they won't scratch.

I was thinking about changing my taillights to blacklines too. Glad I found this DIY--hell, I figured that BMW would include installation directions in the price.

PDF version of Longtrans Guide - Easy to print
My Blacklines arrived today so I thought I'd print out the instructions. They didn't print too well, so I knocked up the attached PDF.
Regards,

Blackline tail lights - also available in white?
Hi,
I like the blackline lights. Does anyone know if there are 'white-line' lights aswell? Now the top part of the lights are a bit too dark.. They can be BMW original or 3rd party - I don't care Tnx! |

My first mod and this helped. Just be careful when you unscrew. If you drop them, they'd probably be difficult to recover.
Here are some pics. R-L, the first three are before. |

So wait, if I only want to make the turn signal part white (as opposed to being red), do I have to buy the whole thing?
I'm not so concerned about the 'blackline' look (although it is pretty cool), but I like the turn signal area white a lot more than red.

Not 100% sure I understand your question but to get the turn signal to white (as you say) - its actually more of a smoked effect, you need to buy a full set of these lights. You could then convert them to whitelines I think?
