Gaurd Rolling
Hi,
Wondering what experience ppl have had with gaurd rolling? Any issues? Any mishaps or cracking of paint that required later repair? Ive had Bondi Collision Center say no-one can gaurentee agianst paint damage and quote $150 PER CORNER while Sydney Gaurd Rolling say theres no potential for damage if the car hasnt been damaged before and quote $70 PER CORNER. Money isnt really my concern its bigger complications i want to avoid, how have other forum members found various gaurd rolling services?? Cheers |

But yeh I used PhillB to do my fronts and rears. No problems at all. Others have also used Nelson without any problems so it's up to you who you go with. Personally I ended up cutting the rear guards as it gives much greater clearance than just rolling. |

I've used Nelson 5+ times, always a great job, $65 a corner or thereabouts
Btw you can't roll the fronts And if you need more clearance, just shave the guards. |

+3 for Nelson (I've had three cars done)
He did my 335i rears, no dramas with the job, happy with his service, very easy to deal with. On one of my previous cars he identified some previous damage, and suggested that due to the damage it may cause a kink but he would take it slow, in the end no problems. He definitely knows what he is doing. |

i have a guard roller if anyone wants hehe..
I just wouldnt roll my rear guards myself, the double layer is too stiff. The fronts can be easily done yourself. I had nelson do the rears on my E90 and its clean with no paint chips or cracks. I recommend him. PhilB mainly deals with japanese cars, hes all over the jdmst forum. As for shaving your guards, you could do it yourself with a dremel. But then you run the risk of the guards splitting which you would then need to seal or weld together. Rolling will make the guard more stronger than shaving it. |

Looks like fun SBC ...why did you need to cut though? 10 inch rim i assume, what offset & what size rubber? any rubbing now??
Im thinking style 95s at present...done heaps of searches online, looks possible but I'd like 235/35 front and 275/30 rear minimum (dont like too much stretch) and trying to figure how much work i need to avoid rubbing totally....i dont wanna hear whinging from the wife.... |
