Didnt bother with grease and worked just fine.... no problems since
Apparently frequent car washing can cause the pins to corrode as water gets under the mirror caps. I avoid directly hosing the mirrors now

Slightly related question, do the 2009 built E90s have auto-dimming and heated outside rear view mirrors?

This is more for the phantom mirror where it readjusts ever time you get out of the car. Might work for non operational as well. Let us know if it does

I read it's usually the switch on the drivers side? But worth starting here

Thanks for this tread! My passenger side mirror don’t fold in nor adjust. I hope doing this will fix the issue. I was reading it might be the motor it self but let’s hope it don’t come down to that.

Worked for me, mirrors do not move anymore and also mirror related codes are gone too
I scraped pins with sharp knife and put dielectric grease on pins before reassembling.

If pins still make bad contact then its possible the other end is corroded, where the pins plug into.

To answer the question of whether this applies to passenger side mirrors: yes! My LCI E91 has driver and passenger mirror memory, and it had been adjusting to the wrong position every time I got in the car recently. After cleaning the contacts, it’s back to normal.

Will give this a shot. My passenger mirror is also malfunctioning even when the switch is to the left, any ideas from you guys on what could be causing this? Even when it does tilt down in reverse, it’s such a severe degree tilted that it just shows directly underneath and is totally useless lol. The issue seems sporadic. Maybe try to clean contacts on both sides or is there another known cause?

Edit: just saw the response above about this helping passenger too, so ignore me, but I’ll update if it works for me too 😂
