M-Sport Suspension Vs H&R Sport Springs

I have the M Sport Suspension on the car right now and it looks quite low. I was wondering how much lower the car will be with the H&R Sport Springs with FSD Shocks ...?

I have ordered them already however I was almost thinking of canceling my order. Is it going to be worth it?

I hope so ... since someone told me that it would be about the same or a little higher ... which did not seem right to me ...

But the M-Tech suspension does look alot lower than stock ...

I have the m sport suspension as well and I am debating on getting the sport springs. I am anxious to see how it turns out. Also are you changing the shocks?

I have M-Sport and just threw the H&R Sports on my E92 over the weekend. I am running 19x8.5 front ET30 on 235/35/19 Falkens and 19x9.5 rear ET25 on 265/30/19 Falkens.

Ride dropped considerably in the front as the M-Sport rides higher in front than rear (now just barely tucking tire) and the rear dropped so the top of the tire is just slightly covered. Its a great spring and the difference in ride quality is almost unnoticable. It is stiffer on bumps/dips however the difference between the M-Sport ride and H&R Sport ride is minor. I'll post pics when I get a chance. (Still need to roll my rear fenders slightly as I rub a little on large dips but I am running M3 offset)

that sounds great! The drop you described it exactly what I am looking for.

did you change the shocks?

I have stock bmw 230's at 19X8 and 19X9 225/35 and 255/30...I plan on keeping these for awhile( the car is only 7 weeks old) I may not have to roll them in that case...my rear tires arent as wide as yours...

So I'm a little confused...you said you DID order the FSD's with these springs, right?

I have this combo and am VERY happy with it. After reading so many posts about how you are NOT advised to pair the FSD's (as they are more for stock replacement/eibach pro kit), I still did it because I wanted a comfortable ride but also a nice drop (the eibach pro kit was NOT enough IMO). And after reading all those posts, I think I was judging my ride while driving too much thinking that it can't be right. But after about 7 months now and about 10K miles, I like the ride. It's definately not very stiff but it rides fine. And I like the H&R sport drop. I do wish the front was maybe .1-.2 lower but I'm happy for now. If I could do it over right now, I think I'd pay the extra $$ and get KWV2's tho..

drop looks good. If you hadn't of paired them with FSD's then what other shock would you have gotten?

I would have gotten the Yellows. I wish I could test that setup to see if it's better..but the one thing about the FSD with a spring lower than the eibach pro kit....is that people say they will go out pretty quickly...so we'll see....

Me too. I have a 2010 E92 M-Sport and am considering H&R or Eibach Sport, but I'm curious how the two spring options differ in terms of ride height, spring rate and compatibility with the stock shocks.

I like the ride of my stock sport/M-Sport suspension and would like to retain that with just a little more stiffness and lower center of gravity I'll get by lowering or leveling the car out.

You won't get it with just the springs. They feel like shit. It really needs shocks and shorter bump stops in the front.

If Eibach pro kit is low enough for you then those along with FSD's is for you...but if like me, you would like to see a drop when you put new springs on...yet retain almost stock ride (which is near impossible when lowering any car)...the FSD's are the way to go...whether or not the FSD's will last when dropping the car as much as H&R sports do...remains to be seen...if you can wait a couple more years, I'll let you know, lol...

Ouch, that's disappointing. I'm still learning about the suspension on this car, but I assume I won't see much of a drop with the Eibach Pro-Kit, so I should look to the H&R Sport springs?

With the higher spring rate of the H&Rs, I will also have to swap shocks with something like the Koni FSD?

Does a cheaper lowering kit/spring exist for the M-Sport cars and are these stock shocks any different from the regular Sport shocks?

I just got a pre lci e90 with sport suspension and have been looking to lower it a little more, especially in the front. But the ride quality is not great and if it's not possible to make it better I at least want to keep it the same. how have your FSDs held up? and I can't find anything showing how much of a drop from oem sport suspension to h&r so if anyone can find pictures of that it would be great.

I have a 2007xi which came with the ST-X suspension. This is the same as the KW-1 but with plain steel bodies. This suspension was set below m-sport height, and I will eventually raise it up. I run conti 225/45-17 DWS 06plus in the summer and 205/55-16 Hakka R3 in the winter. I also run a 20 mm space in the rear.

I am very impressed with the compliance and control of the KW suspension and the fact that the ride quality is still excellent. I live where frost-heaves are an annual reality and this is still an excellent daily driver suspension.

Note that tire sidewall height and tire stiffness are very important components of ride comfort. I damaged two sets of rims in one year on the I-70 with 40 and 45 series tires. I hope I will have better luck with the 16" snows which are 55 series. I do not detect a noticeably more cushy ride having switched from 45 series summer tires to 55 series winter tires.

The one draw-back is that the KW rear shocks do not seem to hold up very well. One of my rear shocks has been leaking for the last 25,000 km. The car still rides fine. I am considering Koni Yellow or H&R (by Bilstein) rear shocks to replace the KW.
