If your car is LCI and you put a pre-lci u get that error.

U need LCI cluster

Cod-6 Pre-lci - cod-7 Lci

That info is on the left side sticker at cluster original position.

Thanks understood. Will give it a shot later tonight. I did some reading, but there isn't much info on how to code via NCSExpert in Expert mode.

My understanding will be going into NCSExpert, load the Expert mode profile, then KOMBI and SG_CODERIEN?

Ok, I have finally managed to install the cluster tonight and it took longer than I expected as I haven't done any coding for almost a year and ran into some silly mistakes. Anyway, everything works like it should and thanks for the help from this forum.

Now my only question, how to calibrate the cluster? In INPA I don't not see the calibration function that were mention in other thread.

Hello everyone!!


I'm trying to program a used E90 instrument cluster to my 2007 328i. What do I need to buy and where? Can I just buy a new eprom 35080 chip and solder it on and trick my CAS into thinking its in virgin state?

I am having an issue and I hope someone can help. I am swapping a 2011 M3 DCT cluster into my 2010 335 Auto and I am having an issue with the 270 programmer. When I set the chip to 080d0wq and I click read it gives me all 00s in every field of the hex editor. I tried it on 2 different computers and checked the chips connection in the ZIF socket. I highly doubt I wiped the chip taking it off of the board. Any tips would be great. Thanks!

r u reading in circuit or with clip

I am reading the 080d0wq chip on which I de-soldered from the cluster board behind the gauge faces. I have it in the adapter that they sent me with the programmer that you push down and set the chip in (ZIF socket). The r270 programmer is brand new and this is the first time I am using it.

Should I solder the wires from the breakout cable directly to the chip instead of using the adapter? I'm starting to wonder if the ZIF adapter is causing the issue.

Ditch the ZIF adapter. Connect directly with soldering / hookpins / even better test clip whilst still attached to board.

I don't know why anyone removes these chips for simple zeroing odometer / blanking VIN.

Personally if I weren't removing the chip, I don't think I'd even remove the faces. You should be able to solder to the appropriate CPU pins / test points on the back.

Ok, it's up to you. But in my opinion you have over complicated a very simple procedure.

I've done 46 (yes I keep a record) of these clusters all with test clip. Total process 3minutes. I can have cluster open and gauges off in 30seconds.

i used to waste more time aligning needles than virginizing it,
but since i started doing buffer coding i can correct needles afterwards

Thank you so much for the advice. I will let you know how I make out with it. It's my first time messing with one of these so I thought I was doing the right thing by removing the chip and using the ZIF. I hope the chip is ok and didn't get damaged!

I find soldering to be much easier than aligning needles perfectly.
