e90 pre lci angel eye conversion

Hi all i am new to this forum and am making my first post I own a have a e90 330i 2006 pre lci. I plan to modify the car with my first modification being angel eye headlights. Does anyone have good recommendations? Not sure if is it possible to buy an angel eye bulb or is a new headlight angel eyes required?

The headlight units i have seen will only fit cars with which do not come with xenons as standard so how can i tell if i have halogen or xenon headlights?

Any help would be appreciated!

Yep definitely halogens with no angel eyes. To get the angel eyes you're going to need new headlight units. My e91 lci has halogen headlights (now converted to led) with halogen angel eyes (also now led).
I believe if you go for xenon headlights then there will be a lot of work involved to do the conversion, plus you must have headlight washers with xenon lights. This will be a very costly conversion.
Getting halogen headlights with halogen angel eyes should be much easier and cheaper. Then to get the nice white angel eyes just install led bulbs. Likewise with the headlights, to get a matching white light with a far better output than the candle like halogens, just install led bulbs. Just make sure you pick the headlight bulbs wisely as led bulbs in halogen headlights is a bit of a mine field as you need a bulb that will work with the reflectors in the lenses, otherwise you may end up with a nice bright light but a really shit beam pattern that will do nothing apart from dazzle every oncoming vehicle.
Hope this helps.

I was in the same position as you. I had a 2006 with halogens and wanted angel eyes.

I decided to buy some lci halogens headlights (straight swap with the pre-lci) and install led bulbs to brighten up the angel eyes. However the lci lights I bought developed a wiring fault which I couldn't be bothered to diagnose. They're gathering dust at the back of my garage complete with the led bulbs fitted.

So I decided to buy some DEPO v3 headlights (much like these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274131988890)
I'm far happier with them- the angel eyes are much more prominent and it gives my car a distinctive look.

If you want a set of LCI headlights and you fancy diagnosing a possible wiring fault then you can have mine for free. The LED bulbs are absolutely fine.

Company called Keep Your Car Safe can do complete custom headlights that can then give you xenon (with projectors) and angel eyes. Worth a look.
